His credibility was already shot when he took the job. But amazingly, he managed to sink even lower with his unbelievable excuses for Zuma.

From August 6, 2003:

The reports alleged Shaik had made a number of large payments to Maharaj and his wife after the transport ministry Maharaj then headed, awarded lucrative licensing and toll-road contracts to companies associated with Shaik.

Last week, the Sunday Times reported that the audit included details of a Maharaj family holiday to Disneyland that was paid for by Shaik.

He did kind of mention it to journalist he probably would not be here next year. That's why he played an April's fool joke.. Surely if it was another person who played it they would have gotten fired or it was the only way to retire.
 
In fairness, he must be pretty damn dizzy by now.

I beg to differ. If you had a "boss" like Jacob to constantly rescue from one gaff after another, you'd also struggle.
 
Is "retire" really the right word in this context? Wouldn't "flush" be more appropriate?
