ok so here is my dillemma i have a mac mini that just won't connect to a router, it can be pinged everything but it refuses to talk to the router

the network is set up like this
(1)switch --> fibre optic link to building next door -->(2)switch

mac mini is connected to (1)switch.
PC on (1)switch can ping mac mini on (1)switch
Mac Mini on (1)switch can ping pc on (1)switch only.
PC on (1)switch can ping routers on (2)switch as well as any pc on (2) switch
Mac Mini on (1) Switch can not ping anything on (2) switch

Now i want to know what could be causing this, i have the newest mac osx snow leopard on but connecting to the internet and or network is impossible,
Packets are sent and received on the mac mini without a single hassle but i can't actually do anything.

hope someone can help

What settings are you using for your network connection in System Preferences?
Is Sharing and the Firewall configured?
Have you tried Network Connection Assistant or Network Diagnostics?

How is networking configured? Manually or DHCP? Sounds like your netmask may be excluding the router.

Also check that the Mini isn't connected to a wireless network.

Sharing and firewall is configured

Tried network assistant and diagnostics numerous times.

I configured manually and DHCP same story

How does netmask work?

The mini is not connected to wireless network.

Another thing, i moved it down to (2)switch and it works 100 percent but once it needs to work at (1)switchi have endless problems.

What just bugs me is that a windows computer works everywhere but a mac won't is there maybe another setting that i am overlooking?

I tried making the connection slower, changing the MTU, everything i am just about ready to throw the thing in the road.

Netmask indicates the range of IP addresses you can access in a given subnet. If the router is outside that range, the client won't be able to access it.

Maybe the port on switch 1 is busted?

You shouldn't have to change MTU on a computer behind the firewall.

no the ip of the mac is 10.0.0.69
ip of router 10.0.0.2

port is definately not busted since the other computer on switch 2 can access switch 1

It was advice i found on the net lol, cause it kept giving sendto host is down.

Did you try another computer on that exact switch port? Just being plugged into the same switch doesn't mean much.
