MacBook hard disc

So the Macbook's are like any other laptop then, if the hardware does not need drivers it should work right?

I guess that would depend on the device - there are still some incompatibilities.

That's why I'm asking - he put a different brand hard disc in to what Apple Uses (currently Hitachi).
Sorry - it seemed like you were asking if LiquidMac would work and that really has nothing to do with the drive.

There have been problems reported by people who install aftermarket drives that have inbuilt anti-shock features because it interfered with the SMS.

Apple uses all sorts of drives - my mbp has a Hitachi and my mini has a Seagate.

So does mine, both, but my Mini doesn't have the motion sensor stuff.
Probably because there is little need for it in a desktop? Unless you're living in an earthquake zone :D

Turns out my mini and my mothers mb shared the same seagate drive.

Sorry for the late reply but yes it does.

Aah sweet - thanks! That 320GB disc is unfortunately not available yet, so I might settle for a 250GB for now. I can always upgrade it again and I'll always have work for an extra hard disc...

Roll on Feb when I can safely put in a new drive - I'm constantly struggling to keep 20gb free on my current 160gb. Maybe by then they'll have some affordable high capacity 7200rpm drives :)

On the other hand, bwana, February gives you time to wait for the 320GB drives to become available :D

Right. I must have confused the superdrive installation howto with the hard drive one because I thought I'd have to pop the hood for the hard drive too. Apparently not. :D

I wonder what would happen if I suspend-to-disc, stick in the new memory, and then try to resume? :D
Dunno - decided the hdd space was worth more than having it so disabled that. :)

Naah, i'm not being serious - I don't expect any operating system to survive such abuse. Except Solaris maybe - if you can swop CPUs without shutting down then adding memory should be trivial :D
