Anyway - I'm sure it's the cable. I've popped the HDD into a USB enclosure and working it out that way. Obviously it's a schlep to have to run off an external drive, so a replacement cable would be nice.

These guys (saspares.com seem to have). I'll make a plan to pop by there soonish. I might get a quote from the iStore first though.
