Hey,

I got a MacBook Pro 13" from the USA and from the start it had issues with the HDD; OS X booted slowly and so I tried to reinstall the OS which gave me millions of issues but I finally got it done. Then it started booting slowly again so I took my 2 day old MacBook Pro to core. A guy there said he would check the HDD and advise accordingly. So he checked the HDD and did a clean install of Snow Leopard but the computer still seems a little slow..

It boots at normal speed but small things seem wrong.. Like in Adium sometimes when sending or receiving a message it lags a little then sends or receives the message, Safari crashed on me when I was on the standard bank website (no other tabs open), word 2008 takes forever to start and when I start types it doesn't respond for a second.

It's also running a little hot now but I guess thats because I'm using it on my bed.

Any advice?

I think there are some cool diagnostic tools that test everything, hopefully someone here can point you to one that might help you. If you have proof of payment, core will cover your intl warranty, so if u can find whats wrong u can take it to them.

If you are sure its the HDD, swap it out with another sata drive and install snow leopard there.

I wish they would just do replacements like Apple USA. Oh well, I need a free diagnostic.. most cost like $99 or so.

I wish I had another drive to test it with :( I was thinking of getting a 7200 RPM drive anyways.

Hmm, yea. Maybe can even just get a 2.5" drive plus casing if you have the need for an external. I am not sure about diagnostic tools, but they have been mentioned in some other threads on this forum, so you might want to look, or see if one of the more experienced okes can help you out.
