Good Day,
While using my Macbook it just rebooted.
Once it came on - it worked fine. I use my macbook in a club to DJ.
Its extremely embarrassing when there's no music and a full dance floor.

I want to know what could have cause this problem?
or what can I check/do so this problem does not occur again.

Please Help
Rudy

My Set-up: MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.0 13" (Black) - Mac OS X (10.5.8)

sorry for going off topic here but you DJ with a macbook? do you use a certain program or how does it work?

and welcome to the forum !

Did it do the whole shutting down process and then restart or did it just restart??

If you recently upgraded the RAM check to see if it's properly seated in the socket.

@O/P - has this happened more than once?

Wow. My peecee auto-reboots at least once a day and I consider it normal.
:D

I had a PC that kept doing that because it was overheating. Not enough ventilation or something. If you're in a hot club, that may be why...

I think you may be on to something here. The heat could well also be responsible for expansion/contraction in the mag power adapter. Unlikely, but possible that the battery went flat at a faster rate than the magpower could recharge it.

Serato: That's like R4K - impressive. Unless of course it's the "torrent" version...

Dont think it was a heating problem, because once it started up it worked 100%

Not to sure what you talking abt here - go check the website out www.serato.com

Thanks

Did you reset your PRAM?

Reboot, press alt+cmd+p+r and wait till it reboots again. Then, release.

Hi Francois
This is not normal, however it could be MacBook Random Shutdown Syndrome.
There’s a simple test to diagnose if your MacBook is afflicted.

1. Open Terminal
2. Type the following command and hit return: yes >/dev/null &
3. Repeat step #2 again in Terminal: yes >/dev/null &

The command yes is a seemingly useless command which sends an endless stream of y’s to standard output.

The above commands will now be making use of both processor cores and shortly you’ll hear the fans kick in pretty loudly. Keep Terminal open and running for at least 15 minutes.

If your MacBook suddenly shuts down, then you’re affected by the problem and you need to contact Apple. If it does not shut down after 15 minutes, then quit Terminal (your fans will slowly disengage) and wait another 20 minutes. If you have a problem the machine will usually randomly shut down during this period.

If you still haven’t experienced the bug you should re-run the above steps at least two more times. If your machine doesn’t shut down by this point, you’re most likely in the clear.

If your MacBook shuts down randomly you should contact Apple.
