CNN Breaking News - Madoff sentenced to 150 years for defrauding investors in a Pondzi scheme.

A federal judge sentenced Bernard Madoff, the convicted mastermind of the largest and most sweeping Ponzi scheme ever, to the maximum sentence of 150 years in federal court Monday.

Judge Denny Chin of U.S. District Court in New York announced the sentence just moments after Madoff apologized to his victims.

"I live in a tormented state for all the pain and suffering I created," Madoff said. "I left a legacy of shame. It is something I will live with for the rest of my life."

Turning to face some of his victims, he addressed them directly: "Saying I'm sorry is not enough. I turn to face you. I know it will not help. I'm sorry."

Please.

The only thing he is sorry about, is that he got caught.

Ja, these people only seem sorry once they are caught. While driven by greed they don't give a crap about the peoples lifes they ruin.

Wonder if he qualifies for parole?

Well i think if you get 150 years i highly doubt he will be out by the time he dies, surely he would have to serve at least 50 years.

80% of time served before eligible for parole, don't you read?

80/100 * 150 = 120 years before parole. Nice one. Give a life sentence to this guy because people were stupid enough to put all their money in it.

Sorry my ass. If he committed this fraud for few months, maybe I would say he is sorry. This has been happening for about 30 years or so.

Rich people (most) are generally greedy and evil.

I'm of the opinion people like this should be sentenced to death. Why? Well number he's stolen billions. Number two, he's ruined many peoples live and it will affect them forever (which is no where near 150 years). Thirdly some people have already commited suicide, some more may do so in the future. He is culpable for their deaths. Lastly all these big ball bankers who took the whole world for a ride have effed up most economies with their greed. That's tantamount to treason.

Well, if it's too good to be true....

I heard that people were begging him to invest funds for them. You know - high returns and all ... and guess what no-one has mentioned this yet but of that money paid in - most was PAID OUT to investors - this missing money is in the hands of those who withdrew their cash early.
