I was at the iStore Sandton the other day, asked the one lady to show me how to magic mouse works, she was pretty clueless.....I was hoping she would blow me away and would have taken one on the spot, anyway left annoyed.

So are they worth it? I have heard good things about them. Is it worth it if you are using a Macbook?

Cheers

worth the price? nope.

The only reason i use one is because i got it with my imac.

One nice thing about it is that you can scroll up down, left right without actually moving a mechanical "thing" otherwise it is pretty normal.

I had the logitech m555b and my brother the logitech v470 and they were defintely comparable to the magic mouse.

All Apple stuff are expensive, worth it if you do not like to use the notebook's track pad. ALso way better then the old mighty mouse with scroll ball, o ball that can give in.

See if you can spend some time with it in an istore. Some people love it. I didn't try it first and ended up returning it the next day because it didn't work with my mac pro and ergonomically it just wasn't for me.

I love mine but assagai is right, the "feel" isn't for everyone. Playing around with one in-store is really the best advice... if you do 'tho, check out the mouse functionality in System Preferences (scrolling with inertia, zoom and two finger swiping) first.

Drove me nuts - eventually sold it via Gumtree and bought a Logitech - best try it first - had an irritating tendency to scroll down in dialog boxes when I didn't actually want it to - oh, and it went through batteries like a chocoholic with box of Lindt.

I tried them out a lot before going with a Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse 5000.

I found them incredibly uncomfortable, and clicking without a click is just not cool.

+1 played with one yesterday at the Sandton iStore, definitely not for everyone or for me that matter.

Thanks for the replies, was expecting a flurry of "its so awesome".

On the fence, need to play with it some more. Will swing past the iStore and fiddle around a bit. :)

I don't see the point in getting a magic mouse for a macbook - assuming it is a fairly recent model.

+1.

The track pad on mac laptops is magic.
Being forced to use a mouse with pretty much every windows pc is a serious design flaw.
Why not consider the magic trackpad instead of a mouse if you have a desktop.

I LOVE the mighty mouse but there are a few things that annoy me. If you using illustrator or a design package then one slip of the finger causes the page to scroll all over the place - VERY IRRITATING.

I love the design of it - not bulky. I would recommend it but like many say - its not for everyone. You have to use it a while to get used to it first and like with all apple products, once you do you dont look back.

I guess you guys are correct, the track pad is pretty awesome. I think my windows brain automatically assumes you need to use a external mouse. I can't stand windows laptop track pads. :p

i liked the track pad but it only worked that well for me, i rather enjoyed the mouse to work with, but thats me, one thing i do miss is being able to scroll to the top of a page with a flick of my fingers.

I think the only time i really used a mouse was when i was editing just because i couldn't work very precisely with it, it always used to move too far.

/misses his mbp

The gestures are what really make it work for me.

Is the battery life on the MM terrible? One user mentioned it chew battery's.
