Magic Mouse worth it?

Ah ok, 2 months and on 60% aint to bad. Does it just take 2 penlights?

I must say overall the negative comments / reviews far outweigh the positive.

Well I managed to go and play with a MM today and overall wasn't that impressed.

Most noticeable annoyances were firstly the edge of the mouse was cutting into my palm. What is it with Apple and making sharp edges on their products?

My new macbook also has sharp scratchy edges.

Second thing I noticed and read in a few reviews was the tracking, pretty sluggish and slow. Even upping the tracking all the way up there was a noticeable lag and I had to pick up and move the mouse just to get across the screen.

All in all not impressed. Will save my cash. :)

Magic Trackpad is da bomb.

Swipe three fingers up or down to get to the bottom or top of web pages. Swipe four fingers down for Exposé and 4 fingers up for desktop. Swipe 4 left or right to switch open apps. Swipe 2 to scroll.

Swipe R800 on your card and you'll be happy. ;)

Or just download Mobile Mouse apps and use your iPhone instead, via w-fi.

All that i dont like about magic mouse is that you cant right click and left click the same time, like on a game for shooting and aiming

Update!

Forgot to update the thread. :p

So my wife ended up buying me the magic mouse after listening to me um and ah about it for 2 weeks and I am glad to report that I am very happy with it. :)

I am really enjoying uses it. I must have the right hands for it as I find it a pleasure to use and don't get any cramps etc.

The multi touch is way better than I was expecting.

The only one thing that seriously SUX big time on this mouse is the tracking, even with the pointer on full speed it seems feel sluggish . . . .

That being said the first thing I did was find an app that fixed and enhanced the magic mouse beyond all Apples abilities.

That app is called MagicPrefs. It transforms the Magic Mouse completely. It allows you to pump up the pointer speed which is an absolute pleasure. It also allows you to create custom multi touch movements, allows you to make use of the pinch feature and allow you to click using multi touch rather than having to physically click.

Now I would love to know why Apple can't design software like this for their own hardware. The Magic Mouse on its own is frustrating in certain areas, but with the addition of an app like Magicprefs it is just that, Magic! :D

I got one with my new mac - it is lying in a drawer somewhere. I absolutely loathed the thing. The design is too flat to fit in the human hand comfortably, and any random movement you make on its surface results in a tap, while when you actually want to tap, nothing happens.

Mouse design is the one thing Apple just can't get right. Buy an ordinary R150 Logitech USB-wired optical mouse, you'll be glad you did.

-1 i can't agree with you there, my mouse works absolutely perfectly, since when does a out of the box magic mouse tap? maybe scroll yeah but no tapping...

Yeah, mine didn't tap out of the box :p

I had to get 3rd party software to get the tap feature, which I don't even use. Doesn't work great, and the click is perfect for me.

Loving this mouse.

I also thought the tap was going to work better but it just frustrated me...

Yeah, you end up tapping all over the place. I actually quite like the tactile click, prefer it actually.

i used to love the tap on the trackpad, that was rather different, and i kind of expected the magicprefs to let you tap in that way (though i can't explain how you could move and tap without it getting mixed up :P)

I love my macbook's touchpad..... beats all the windows touchpad's by far! Only thing I don't enjoy about it, is when I occasionally use it for windows, it becomes unusable. They really jinxed the windows drivers lol! :(

I use a Logitech wireless laser mouse as my mouse (if I ever use a mouse, like for windows)... It's great, it works for both mac and windows.

Easy fix, don't use Windows on your mac :p
