Desktop users, your time has come. The new Magic Trackpad is the first Multi-Touch trackpad designed to work with your Mac desktop computer. It uses the same Multi-Touch technology you love on the MacBook Pro. And it supports a full set of gestures, giving you a whole new way to control and interact with what’s on your screen. Swiping through pages online feels just like flipping through pages in a book or magazine. And inertial scrolling makes moving up and down a page more natural than ever. Magic Trackpad connects to your Mac via Bluetooth wireless technology. Use it in place of a mouse or in conjunction with one on any Mac computer — even a notebook.

The largest Multi-Touch trackpad ever.

Magic Trackpad is just like the trackpad on the MacBook Pro — but bigger. It’s made with the same advanced touch-friendly and wear-resistant glass surface. But with nearly 80 percent more area, it’s the largest Multi-Touch trackpad made by Apple. So there’s even more room for you to scroll, swipe, pinch, and rotate to your fingers’ content. And since the entire surface is a button that clicks, you can use it in place of a mouse.
It fits in perfectly.

Magic Trackpad features the same sculpted aluminum design as the Apple Wireless Keyboard, and side by side the two sit flush at the same angle and height. Go from typing to gesturing in one motion, or do both at the same time. How perfect is that?

Finally, I was hoping this would be true.. :)

I have the magic mouse but would prefer a multitouch trackpad for my desktop, will see the reviews before I get one...

I want one of these for my laptop. :)

what? your macbook? I don't see the point if it comes with the same trackpad.
It's larger and I can position it better.

And I can also use it to control my mini from the couch better than a mouse. :D

So has anyone found a shop with stock yet?

Think we'll need to wait a few more weeks, I'm itching for one too.

I hate waiting. Digicape said 2 to 3 weeks but you never know, it would probably end up being 4 to 5 weeks.

You going to get the Apple battery charger too? :D http://www.apple.com/battery-charger/

I'd be interested to know what mAH the AA batteries are. On the surface R210 might not be a bad price for a smart charger with 6 batteries, if the rating was high enough.

lol yeah I thought the charger was funny, but hey it does have good standby energy savings ;) might get one myself as a backup portable charger.

It seems decent but I've got too many chargers already. If/when I need one it might be a good idea although by the looks of it, it can only charge 2 batteries at a time?

BTW.
It was teh same story with the Magic Mouse - managed to get one about a week before it was available in the rest of the stores and I ended up hating it. Hope it's different with the Magic Trackpad.

I do need a decent travel charger. Considering the number of batteries I go through if the were rated high enough I'd want 2 sets (12 batteries + 2 chargers) which would mitigate the 2 battery limit somewhat.

Good point. I haven't seen any specs/ratings on the batteries yet though.

Nope not a pen tablet, just the trackpad to add Apple's multitouch for your desktop like a mac mini or imac.

I'm wasn't talking about the Intuos 4 Range, their Bamboo Fun range can take touch input, and also has multitouch, etc...

There's an app for turning your macbook trackpad into a "wacomy' trackpad. Seems alright. It should work with this too.

I think the Apple charger with the rechargeable batteries is a really great deal - I will definitely be getting one for my wireless keyboard, mouse and future trackpad. Batteries are a hellova price now, so the charger and batteries will pay themselves off in no time at all
