Mahindra XUV700

I must say I was surprised to go through 2-3 very negative reviews on YT about XUV 700. Some niggling issues only after 3-4 months it seems - didn't understand why they didn't ask dealership to sort issues out.

Reviews are in Hindi/Urdu so not useful to post here

I have heard about this "soon to be launched in SA " since February 2022. And we are here now.

Yeah I was considering buying one, but seeing as they missed their launch date multiple times - and they keep spamming new one's on social media (then don't reply about missed dates) I think i'll give it a skip.

Do you have any idea of base price and variants etc? In SA I mean. I couldn't find it anywhere yet. Of course, it makes sense to keep it under wraps till actual launch but was wondering if someone knows tentatively.

I'm expecting 500k+

Base model is already 300k ZAR in India and top end is about 600k ZAR - so you can probably 1.5-2x those amounts for import, tax, markups etc.

Right, I could probably consider base model if it is about 400K. Apparently, pre-orders will be open on 15th Nov 2022.

What is this pre-order thing ? Does it mean people in SA place orders without having seen/driven a new model ? Or is it just a intention to purchase that is not binding ?

I dig the MB-inspired dual pane screen setup. The latest Kias are on this look/trend now as well.

Sometimes called the “skateboard look”.

Interesting that Mahindra XUV 300 had 5-star rating but did they sell many? (Apart from sales during initial launch).

If one looks at sales at comparative models, Seffricans don't really care about 5-star safety rating but features & razzmatazz. Nothing wrong but just saying.
On the 1st point they sell a slow yet steady amount, they have never been a big player in the pool. What they really need to do is amp up their marketing budget & get the word out to non-car people.

On your 2nd point it is somewhat true, it seems most okes would rather care about a touch screen with AA & CP over say an additional 2/4 airbags.
