Mahindra XUV700

On the 1st point they sell a slow yet steady amount, they have never been a big player in the pool. What they really need to do is amp up their marketing budget & get the word out to non-car people.

On your 2nd point it is somewhat true, it seems most okes would rather care about a touch screen with AA & CP over say an additional 2/4 airbags.
Personal anecdote as we bought car last month for my wife. It also depends on sales person. Toyota sales guy, Frans, at Midrand was so on the ball that in addition to usual test drive, he took us all the way to pretoria east just to show the color of the car as he didn't have that color in stock at Midrand. In all, he spent about 3 hours spread over 2 days with us and we bought it at end of it.

Mahindra Midrand sales person was happy to assist with test drive of W6 but for strange reason, she was reluctant to show us W8 saying ''W8 is exactly same as W6 except for features" and "she doesn't know who has keys for W8 in the yard".. sheer laziness in my opinion. Hardly spent 30 minutes on sales and there was nobody in the dealership that time. Apart from boot issue, we were happy with XUV 300 and while we wouldn't have bought it in any case that time, I am now not willing to go back to her and will probably choose another branch for Mahindra.

Interesting that Mahindra XUV 300 had 5-star rating but did they sell many? (Apart from sales during initial launch).

If one looks at sales at comparative models, Seffricans don't really care about 5-star safety rating but features & razzmatazz. Nothing wrong but just saying.
With so many people going around telling horror stories from their nephews and nieces by marriage? I am pleasantly surprised to see them occasionally on the roads, South Africans are still going to require a very long time before their entality is normal.

Just look at them falling over themselves with the Toyota equivalents on the Suzuki cars and you will understand that we are a very overrated nation.

lol - nephews & nieces by marriage. Mahindra needs to increase their razzmatazz on interior to get seffrican buyers. Midrand is flooded with Tiggo & Havals and one can see why.

Aren't most new Suzuki in SA manufactured/assembled/built in India as well ?

Hope the new one is better, the 500 was very dodgy.

Yes, most Suzuki in SA are built in India, not just Suzuki but plenty other manufacturers, the quality is often very dodgy, more dodgy than Indian car that are built in India like the Mahindra.

Considering it is a 7-seater, isn't this rival of Tiggo 8 pro? I expect of these 2 would be close to each other for different comparable variants. Mahindra needs to price it carefully as Tiggo interior seems unparalleled in this segment.
I reckon you’re right but even so pricing & size wise there is not a massive difference between the Tig 7 vs 8 for eg.

I wonder what the waiting period is. Have heard stories of people waiting more than an year+
