Am I missing something?

Try to read an M&G article and you get "Mail & Guardian Subscriber Content". For most of them anyway.

If this is new, they must really be in the poo.

I can only think that they've got an issue with the site....

This is definitely new, and if this is what they're going to do then I will stop reading M&G.

That's the end of them then. There will be very little uptake for their pay service.

/rubs me crystal balls...

This is the beginning of the end for free news sites and places where the public can freely participate (in many cases anonymously) on a forum to air their views. A few of us predicted this when the legislation was amended allowing the FPB to censor online content. Read more here: http://www.r2k.org.za/2015/03/10/st...ations-boards-attempt-to-censor-the-internet/

Do yourself a favour and look for the list of most visited local web sites and start scratching off the sites who are either closing down their comments' sections or converting to pay sites, which will also allow them to control their comments' section, as you would no longer be anonymous.

look at this page and tell me what you think?

Shows me a blank space below the logo/top menu area. Don't know what your filter filters :o

The reason I asked, because in the past (like 2 years back) it allowed you 10 articles a month free, I opened a few articles but it didn't pop up anything counting it down like in the past.

That's the end of them then. There will be very little uptake for their pay service.

I figure they'll be gone in a few months, if not sooner. They seem desperate.

You can still access the abysmal drivel called "Thought Leader" it seems. Pity.

R650.00 for one year? Are they nuts?

That is sad,I would not mind paying for their content since most of it is investigative and their own original content and not just republished news wire articles, But R650 is too much for an online version
