AMEN brother!!!

"i may just be the dumbest guy on the forum - except for the Sentech Help Desk"

Itweb won't publish anything of this nature. Why should they ?
If Sentech looks like going under, or aquires another company or the top management gets abducted by aliens, or noone brings down the net by surfing too much pr0n, then maybe they would post a story.

Noone,

While your post in this thread doesn't deserve a reply, I think I speak for everyone when I tell you to get off your high horse.

We don't care to hear about your porn, your bundles of cash, your lady, and so on. We don't care. Don't call us "homos" (are you a racist as well?) just because we are complaining, we are not all sheep and we do not just accept the service we recieve if we feel it is not good enough.

I fully support the complaints we're making - people must just ensure that they complain to the right people.
/me downloads some more porn

you know, i'm not suprised at all with this... its a part of South African's nature... if not happy, bitch and moan

Aha.... riiight, and the gazillion years Telkom has been around, all that bitching and moaning helped..... suuuuuuure

Most of you bitch about the 650 rand option of 128k. Hell, you haven't heard a peep out of me, spending almost 1.5k a month on 512k and also experiencing the slow downs you do

Maybe I'm just getting older, wiser... maybe a bit smarter. These small things really doesn't bother me, at the end of the day, i'm sitting, chilling, watching my big assed teevee and enjoying the company of my lady, surfing some, chatting online and yes, obviously the *** load of porn I download

not once have I run to the news paper... "oh help me, my connection sucks ass and they have duped me into buying sentech and now i wanna cry like a little bitch"

guess what you homos, YOU chose sentech...

what do they always say.... the grass is always greener on the otherside?

I laugh at you, watching you run back to telkom like the scared ho's you are

I have the utmost respect for TheRodent, and can't really say I agree with the action he took by posting that... a few weeks ago, I would have done the same...

yea.. *sip of his beer* I stopped caring...

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

I agree. we have a right to complain, however, someone must not assume that all the mywireless users are complaining, and take it upon themselves to represent us. And also, I don't think we should get personal on this forum, it be-littles the person doing it, and the rest of us.

I suggest that we get a body ( elected by the users)that comprises the users(mywireless users)and let them take it further with mywireless.

So who wants to stand and be elected to represent us?

Or maybe, you all just like to complain and get exposure on this site.

/me looks at some of his law books

the RIGHT to complain?

riiiiiiiight

and yes, i'm a racist too, what of it? [:p]

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

"I'm not a racist, I hate everyone equaly ! Now make me some money you pale white S O B ! " - my ex Pakistani boss in London.

Hell guys lighten up. Here we are fighting like pigs whilst Sentech sits in the Royal seats in (silence and)amusement. The 24 month handcuffs are a 24 month problem. SOMEONE will come along with the product.
And hey let's go a little easy on Noone. Pron aside I think the forum would be a less interesting site without him.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I'm not listening.

Hey, you should not be a racist ... white people are not so bad if you get to know them!

<Joking ... :) .. actually, I don't think much of racism, it's real dumb from both a social and macroeconomic perspective>

Donovan, I know you were probably speaking metaphorically, but please don't presume to speak for everyone here ... I can't say noone's posts were bothering me, and I think the occasional silly flamewar is just par for the course in online forums .. (except for one post of his once to JhbGirl, some time ago, that I thought was rather low ..)

Yup, i can't shine all the time

and the fact donovan might have thought I was racist just goes to show you how far this country have come

hell, move on people

i wasn't even around in the apartheid era nevermind the 2nd world war (unlike Donovan)

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

Firstly, let's deal with childlike matters: Noone is just the typical adolescent-minded troll, as found everywhere on the internet. He picks fights, says deliberately stupid, racist trashy things, is illogical - then sits back and enjoys the sparks from those of us with a little more IQ. His main focus is 'getting noticed' - however he can, like a child squealing for its mommy to pay attention. On IRC I usually kickban this type - as they wont change, and will - if one tries to ignore them - just try and take over and generally insult and intimidate users into letting them have their way. Time will tell what this troll develops into.

Now, onto adult matters - the absence of bandwidth. I'm with Anakin (lets bitch, moan, curse etc) I'm also with Robone when they said we should get a representative of some sort. We probably need a lawyer and/or an IT specialist who'd be willing to formulate an approach to Sentech management/legal department.

Publicity is the one thing that Sentech would like to control - especially since they've invested heavily in some ad-spend recently. Letters to real-world papers that are short, peeved, and gently outraged from an ignored-consumer point of view, will carry some weight. Consumer affairs sections of the various newspapers, is a good way to go. Newspapers need to fill column space, so a combo approach of letters to consumer affairs sections/the editor, and then a phone call to the 'news room' of each paper to find who the geeky journalist is in the area who might get interested and start concocting an article (and thus contacting Sentech asking for comment, scaring the hell out of them) This happening on a wide front, from The Star, across to Sunday Times, This Day etc etc - as well as doing the same emailing to radio stations, can kickstart some quite useful pressure that Sentech will have to respond to..

Use it, dont use it...

Damn I go away for a couple of days, and the next thing my topics flaming [;)]

To answer some of the issues raised about the motivation behind my email to ITWeb:
a) Point taken about my not even being a MyWireless subscriber. However I've been following MyWireless since it started being covered on this forum, and as such I've accumulated a fair amount of knowledge simply by reading the many 1000s of posts this section of MyADSL holds. And everytime I've been about to sign up, a disaster of some kind has been reported on this forum.
As an observer, what I've seen is a general decline in Sentech's service - reported by YOU the subscribers; and that is the only reason I haven't signed on - I ain't about to risk my ass on such an unreliable service. I'm lucky I got all the info at my fingertips because of this forum. What about the many of others that will sign onto MyWireless without knowing how dodgy it can be?
b) My aim is not to see Sentech go down by any means. I want to push Sentech into being honest - on making their service worthy of their advertising. 24/7 high speed access is what they advertise, and as so many can attest, that is far from reality. An article that gives an impartial view will show both the pros and cons of the product. It should involve both Sentech and their customers, and it should at very least give Sentech notice that their poor actions will have public consequences.
c) Noone you are the perfect Sentech customer - you're rich, you're stupid and you don't seem to care about bad service.
d) If all you're gonna do about a problem of bad service is moan on a forum, then rather don't do it at all. Rather turn your anger into real action, like mailing IT publications, compiling information, filing complaints with ICASA, whatever as long as it brings Sentech's attention to the problem. I'm not saying be stupid and spam ITWeb because your connection dropped for the first time in 4 days - thats what "16 year old school kids" do.
Like I said before, I wrote that email because I've noticed an overall negative trend in Sentech service, starting when they began optimising towers. I didn't just write it because of one bad report from somebody. If every MyWireless user becomes pro-active somewhere beyond this forum, what you'll find happening is that Sentech will be forced to be more and more responsive to their customers - something which I'm sure almost any user of any service wants.

Telkom needs a leash, ICASA needs some guts, and the SA consumer needs to make it happen

I agree with you on a large amount of issues, but one thing you forget, some of us are happy (reasonably) with the service, and sure there can always be improvement.

This is a new technology that is only now being adopted worldwide. A lot of the problems actually stem from the subscribers computers not being set up correctly. For instance, we have "experts" on this forum and at sentech saying the MTU settings don't mean anything. Now that can cause major slow downs, and this could be the problem on a large portion of the computers out there. This I found out from my own trial and error and by doing some research.

A big problem, is the sentech staff know less than most of us, and that is not much.

So, what am I trying to say. We should rather work with Sentech and get this service running as it should. I really believe these are teething problems that we are having

Its sorting it out thats the problem and will take a bit of time.
Currently we are adjusting stuff, shifting loads etc, until we can fix the actual problem.
If the SNO was launched when it was supposed to, none of this would ever have happened.

PROASM - you've pricked my curiosity: care to elaborate? I'd like to understand how the current criticism of the Sentech service relates to the absence of the SNO...

I'm grasping at straws here ....

If an SNO is comming on board they could provide alternative routing/peering. No one would want to sign a nice long lease with Telkom if there was a chance that the SNO is coming online ....
