Howzit guys

I have been on Telkom LTE uncapped wireless for almost three years now. I was one of the first guys on it. I have been having major issues since the weekend. Connection is extremely unstable and when I do connect, Speedtest shows 1mbps download. Trying to reach Telkom but no luck. The app is broken. It keeps telling that it can load my details and try again later. Website is pretty much the same. Chatted to an online agent and she said systems are down. I tried all the usual stuff with the router with no luck.

Tonight the connection still the same. There seems to some major issues at Telkom. Anyone heard of anything

Im based on JHB, Linden area

Although I see the app is down yes...

Im guessing it's the Telkom network itself and not my LTE connection as my ping is low and jitter is ok?

Your jitter looks a little high actually, which could mean there is either congestion or shaping happening around your area.

To find out which is which, i would suggest you go get a prepaid telkom sim and load a bit of data on there, swap out the sim and do the test again.

If its the same result then its congestion
If not, then its shaping/QoS (prepaid or capped customers has higher priority?)

Not sure how Telkom prioritize their traffic but common sense tells me uncapped are prioritized lower (QoS/prioritizing happens when there is traffic congestion)

Thanks for the response, much appreciated. I forgot to mention that I had tried a prepaid Sim and even another router and it all gave pretty much the same results.

Im guessing there is congestion on the network. I did Speedtest late last night and this morning and things look a bit better.

Still nowhere close to what I'm used to though. My norm is closer to 20 mbps download speeds on the speedtest outside of peak hours

Take the sim and try it in a phone.. do a couple of tests..

Then try again in router.. If you using the B593 / B315 routers, change frequency to 2300Mhz band or try the 1800mhz band

Definitely something going in the network. everything is being affected. ADSL as well as mobile connectivity. Lots of resets somewhere ....

Local ADSL stays up, but PC sees the loss and drops the connection.

how do you change the band?
TIA
