In some versions of Halo, Cortana looked pretty good.

If Musk can save us from this...

They don't drop a great AI-generated game as promised in 2026, I doubt that it will be any better than Duke Nukem Forever. To be honest, I don't even think that they are working on games at all at this time.

I'm not that passionate. But AI or not, and these things are getting better and better, it's possible he could deliver neutral-to-pleasing to look at characters. Likely nothing will happen.

That is what Nvidia is doing with DLSS5 (amongst other neural stacks), and see how well that was received, even by the pro-AI everything has to be AI community.

No. It need not necessarily look like that. AI models can be made to make more feminine characters and stylised ones as well eg even cartoony anime ones or the sort that Koreans like to employ.

Heh? Nvidia is working on RTX Neural Shaders. That is AI usage in programmable shaders. The people over at Epic are piping this into their game engine that everyone loves to use. Unreal Engine 6 will be AI-assisted driven. There are so many demos on this. Nvidia has a dev YouTube channel:

The way some people within this industry speak, Unreal Engine 7 could as well be codeless. AI does the logic.

We may be speaking past each other. You may be referring to the earlier DLSS 5 footage which made the characters look worse to many people. But that can be modified. And you don't have to run through DLSS especially if you're not using an Nvidia GPU.

As long as game devs craft their work to appeal to players, the AI will follow that. Just look at how terrible AI rendered images were 2-3 years ago. Now in another 2-3 years, they may look indistinguishable from human created or human captured images.

All this is exactly why I play older and indie games. AI slop game era will be by far and away the worst era in gaming this far 😮‍💨

Problem for now is A.I is just a tool like many tools its being used but there some lazyness in the mix at times.

some games using it...havent been bad just depends on how the user is using it.

since a.i can write code its still up to the user to test said code and read through the lines to make sure its correct. its also maybe just quicker than typing everything out. so for companies to use these tools to speed up production to make quicker profits then yes sadly they gonna use it. i woulnt blame them

id blame them if its obvious and a total flop.

some guy made a game called Grandpa high on retro ...used A.I specificly for the voices and its a kak funny looking game was like R84 on steam i dropped that KFC chance mainly cause the game looked funny. the aim was funny that dude nailed it. i recommend having it a look through (havent played much of it yet myself)

Its the laziness of design that I'm most concerned about.

AI being used with intent and as a tool especially for prototyping is fine. As long as a professional is using it correctly and refines the final product -- That should be fine. But its very, very easy to be lazy.

Again, I have no issue with that. AI should be used as a tool, but not THE only development tool. Code and assets should be reviewed and refined, with the final touches coming from humans. I am 100% okay with that.

However,lazy/sloppy game-design goes hand in hand with over-reliance on AI. I'll let EA, Activision and Ubisoft demonstrate this IRL with releases coming in 2027, 2028 and beyond. They are absolutely destined to screw it up massively multiple times.

exactly

reminds me of that video i saw from investors and a engineer where they got an idea and claude codes and then anothe claud reviews and grock reviews then gemini reviews and claude revews and then relays to the engineer.

and the engineer goes... whos coding? and they called him stupid for not understanding. So his reply then is

So what are you doing?

Exactly WTF
