Need some quick help, need to disable that metro interface and get a start button back. Win8 DSP edition.

Also does Win8 have a built in backup tool for daily incremental backups? If not what do you recommend that is simple to use?

search for "Start8-1.03-setup.exe"

Does what you want.

There is no going back to older versions of windows. Old pc got struck by lightning and had XP OEM license which is not transferable. New PC came win Win 8 DSP.

I've installed Metro Suite Setting to disable some stuff and also installed Classic Shell. I still however occasionally get that weird fullscreen crap which I need to get rid of.

Or just embrace it. Pretty much everyone I know personally has ended up liking the new start screen after a while, and wouldn't go back.
Do you really plan on having to modify every PC you use for the immediate future (namely W8, and probably W9 even more).

You mean surrender? it is horrible even for a tablet OS, they got some things right but overall it sucks and is incoherent, but alas I'll be leaving windows 7 soon for 8, been playing with it via dualboot.

Windows 8 and Google are trying to keep us fit by adding extra Clicks and Key presses to achieve the same results. I say cheers, now where's my beer?

lol, it's not a game. If you don't like it then why not just stick with 7?
You are presuming that everyone thinks the same as you. I love the interface. I love it on my Surface, and on my desktop (MS+KB). And besides this forum which seems 98% anti, other people are enjoying it too - even if it is a massive jump.

I liked it for the first hour but then the kool-aid wore off when trying to reboot, had to hunt for the shutdown button and on a large display hotspots are not ideal.

I've got a 27", and love the hotspots. I find myself trying to use them even when I'm using a W7 PC.

Why haven't we heard of anyone trying to modify Windows 7 to be more like Windows 8?

There are actually quite a few projects doing this. One of the more popular ones: http://www.metro7app.com/

But this is actually really stupid. If you want the metro start screen then why not install W8 and get a properly made one, plus an overall faster OS? So yeah, your point makes no sense. Except for a few people that can't afford R140, and a few fringe cases.
