Making money on YouTube

Depends on what ad's you activate, who the advertiser is, what method you select and so on. You can make up to $2 - $3 for every 1000 views on prime content/advertisers.

So in short, there is a lot that goes into the formula and simpply put you need loads of people to actually start make a living off it, but it is possible.

Edit: Hmmm, think I have a topic for the iPad comp.....

Thanks, was actually wondering about that recently.

All I did was upload some screencasts of my Android phones running different launchers to show here on MyBB, so I did not pay any attention to detail or quality, nor comment on them or such.

Well, you've made a start, congratulations.:)

I'm still on 'someday isle'

Me too; I uploaded one silly video but it has like 3 views or something. I jsut don't know what to make videos about. I have a little Canon camcorder.

Well for one you gonna have to do it weekly + to really earn something.

Anything will do, you will be surprised at what people will come back to watch on a weekly basis. I have seen some very wacky channels with 1000's of followers. From people dancing in different costumes every week to people just reading the news...

For now, I am removing all ads. Gonna build up a user base 1st.

SNIP:

Another South African doing really well on YouTube is the drumming wunderkid Cobus Potgieter from East London/Humansdorp?

Have a look at his channel here:

Crazy amount of views!

Checked it out, impressive :) In his video, 'Cobus - 30 Seconds to Mars - Kings and Queens (Drum Cover)', he combines his drum performance with 30 Seconds to Mars vocals. Technically how does one do that, stripping out their instrumentals? And is using their vocals in any way copyright infringement?

I have an idea for you. You do paintings, right? Why don't you record yourself doing paintings? You can guide the viewers through each step. Everyday when you paint a bit, you can record it and upload it to Youtube as "Drawing x Part x".

Ooh Ooh and a sub channel with a live feed so people can watch paint dry :)

Ok maybe watching the paint dry is not such a good idea, but yeah best is to do something that you love, that way if it doesnt take off at least you still enjoyed doing it.

Problem is to make yourself noticed + must have ideas.
