mANY REASONS

Less cables
HD sound
CEC

Simple solution? Buy an HDMI capble GPU with HDMI and quality sound or at least sound input socket on board. One that does HDCP/BluRay decoding too.
Or buy a decent Atom HTPC MB like the ZOTAC Ion.

wtf , can someone explain to me please. does hdmi carry video and sound?
i had a ps3 over here yesterday - i was really pleased with the picture but there was no sound coming through my sinotec. is it just a setting on the ps3 i need to check?

DUDE!!!!

get the Sinotec.i just hooked up the PS3 with hdmi cable and its seriously beautiful.
i think the component cables dont do the tv justice.il be getting one of the bundles for ps3 soon! Even an old game Motorstorm on 720hd was awesome.the tv fps seemed to keep up a whole more more with the hdmi cable.
I never tried the Elite Xbox with the sinotec but i think im pretty sold on Sony for my next console.I cant wait to jam some fifa on that setup.

Just one thing guys : hdmi doesnt include audio? what is the easiet way to get the sound playing through my tv ? i see the back on the ps3 has that ps2 audio/video port....how do i get the audio setup.this is my only concern? i cant run the audio through the AV1/2 ports ? im kinda confused bt this should be basic i know :p

ok thanks dude...i was thinking to myself why is this so complicated.

YES! PS3 can send sound over HDMI cable. DTS master HD if you want.
You have to go ino the sound settings on the PS3 and choose where you want the output. You can also enable Multiple sound outputs but you loose some features like it will only send stereo over two channels via optical depending on what the main sound output selection.

Also check that the TV can decode HDMI sound.

huh.... some tv's cant do HDMI sound? i hope this isnt the case with the Sinotec.im sure its just setting . Thanks IAP ...local PS3 champion :p

Bar1 - give some updates in a few weeks about your Sinotec experiences ;)

HDMI does run the audio..... I know cause i take my PS3 whenever i go away for work and hook it up to a 40" LCD they got in the hotel room... all i plug in is the HDMI... just check how the sound is setup in the PS3 system settings

We've had the Sinotec 42" LCD for almost 9 months now. Not a single problem whatsoever.

One complaint though... This LCD is like the Hyundai between the Beamers and Mercs. Probably just as good as the others, it just don't look as good. So one piece of advice, if you can afford it, get a TV with those glossy screens. Even if the picture is crap it will still look good. It makes a huge difference. 9 months down the line after spending R8500, I'm quite dissappointed, especially after looking at my friends Sony, at R10000, or even my parent's smaller Samsung, which was the same price.

Remember those first laptop LCDs...? Bad. now look at the new ones with the glossy screens? It's like looking at the world with dirty glasses. Huge difference.

yeah but the glossy screens have issues as well.when we were at Game and we looked at all the sets ,the above lights were too much of a distraction when trying to watch Tv.
that non glossy look doesnt have that reflection on it.Yes it looks more shiny and sexy but i know in my lounge for example it would never work with the sunlight and light reflections.but i here what you saying.well sort of. All those Sony , Samsungs @ awesome prices are still HD Ready.... not anytime soon you gonna find a Full HD from the big guys for R7999. and if they do it then Sinotec will drop Full HD to R6999 :p

and no matter how sexy the screen itself is ,if the feed on the tv is blocky no brand or make can fix a bad quality video.I was looking at the LG full HD for R11999 yesterday and it was by far the best set there ahead of Sony,Samsung. but its R4000 extra man...thats basically a PS3?! i dont know.....but at least you gave it a chance :)

1 Year Later

Hi. My 47" Full HD Sinotec is almost 1 year old now and still going strong. I have 4 years left on my 5 year guarantee and the soccer looks great. I must say this TV produces great picture of standard SABC channels (when I was looking for TV I read some rumours that the big brands use more expensive scalers and the weaker brands don't display so ...bull ****).

My girlfriend has her PC on the one HDMI input and I have my PC on the other HDMI input so sometimes it's Ugly betty and other times it's zombie blood (Left 4 dead) or Flatout racing or Street fighter. Gaming on it is just us much a pleasure as watching HD movies on it. I don't have ghosting or whatever other forms of complaints people get when gaming.

Some might not believe me but the only problem I have with mine is that it might be a bit too big. I can't sit close enough to the fireplace in winter and still far enough from the TV as well. I believe a 42" is the perfect size for any living room.

On Sinotec 32 and still going strong, wish it was bigger though - one thing I have noticed is that sport's with grass pitch sometimes blurrr, but went to hifi corp and saw the same thing on a philips?
Sony's seem to display grass well like on the rugby and soccer - game has an led TV that play's Avatar last time I was there - was really amazing , like looking through a window it was so clear.

I have not tested Avatar on my 32 yet.

Have had ours for a year and a half now, and it is still going strong, it is funny how quickly time flies :-D.

I know of a Sony W series that went bang after the first week, also 3 samsung lcd's that started to have green lines running down the middle?
The samsung's where all out of their 1 year warranty and the guys where charged a small fortune to have them fixed.

What does it say about a company that wants you to pay a fortune for their product but they give you a krappy warranty?
