Makro Sinotec Full HD Special

it's great for PC use, if you want a monster sized screen.

need a good gfx card to handle the full HD resolution too.

heard it doesn't display Low quality sources nicely, but what LCD really does - and at what price?

well mmmmm rather go sony, only reason they are giving you a 5 year guarantee is so that you think you have quality but in the mean time you dont

I got a 32inch Sinotec LCD in the bedroom and am using it in conjunction with a HD PVR. Picture is stunning, set has the usual plethora of features and inputs, sadly no audio out but 2 x hdmi in 2 x avi in etc etc and a 5 year warranty to boot, set cost me R5.4k and were recently on special at Makro for R4.6k!!!!!! Outstanding value IMO!!!

I need to replace the aging plasma in the lounge soon and will certainly consider a Sinotec 42inch but prefer plasma to LCD.

The contrast ratio is a bit of a let down on the Sinotechs. But if you don't mind that then I haven't heard of many people who've had problems with it.

To me a 5 year guarantee suggests confidence in one's product and if the product isn't quality at least you covered for 5 years:p

My boss's W series 42 Sony just went pop last week!! :)
Was 3 weeks old.
Luckily still under 1 year warranty - was replaced 3 days later.
1 year bad, 5 year good.
When our broadcasting quality is on par with america and europe, i'll worry about quality.
What comes in is what comes out.
Save your money and get Sinotec, have not heard a complaint yet, when i emailed them about specs. etc reply came back almost instantly with more than what i asked for.
I emailed lg, samung and sony - still flippin' waiting.
Fact is sinotec's customer service is good.

yeah does that mean the "dulux" brand 9 year guarantee is crap, but the "Paint-R-Us" brand 1 year guarantee is good?

doesn't make any sense at all....

If anything, it's all those fancy colorful stickers you find on the expensive set's that fool you, with all these fancy names "X-PeriA Color Technology", "eMotioN2 Flex Engine", "Dual Flux capacitor Coils" and whatever - their marketing is top notch.

look, i'm not saying sammy and lg or whatever are bad TV's - they are probably better - but not as much as you would think they would be - and certainly not that much more money worth.

if you are a millionare though - have fun with your R45,000 TV Set. i've got basically the same for 1/5 the price unless you want to start looking at pixels with a microscope

I remember reading somewhere(prob on MyBB) that as long as the Contrast ratio is above 1500: it will not make a difference. The eye cannot detect anything higher than that and you will never be able to see the difference between 2000:1 and 1000000:1.

I stand to be corrected.

lol, paid R4k for my 32inch Sinotech at game 2 weeks ago :D

i wouldn't buy any 32 inch for PC use though... 720p resolution sucks. for TV it's fine though.

That's exactly what it is. Marketing BS. There was that comparison done comparing LCD and plasma's and all the gimmicky little picture enhancing applications were actually turned off as they caused picture quality to deteriorate!!!! What a frigging joke??!!!

I remember in the good old days your top of the range amplifiers had an on off switch a volume switch an input switch and A/B speaker switch and that was about it.

Nowadays??!!! Well.... Seems everything is so bloody over engineered with the end result being the loss of quality...

If that Sony went pop after 13 months, that would be painful.

prob just a bad batch or something. In genral sony usually lasts a dam long time

well all products fail sooner or later, but i'd rather be standing behind a 5 year guarantee than a 1 year, when they DO decide to go "pop" :D

But i'm not too bothered by the guarantee, although it is nice

My Point is that in the end, side by side, a R45000 Sony don't look R36000 better than a R9000 Sinotec. the difference is not as big as the stickers and contrast ratio's would like you to believe.

The technology is always growing, spending a small fortune on a tv that will be outdated by the time you get it home is a little doff!
People are saying our hd at the moment is below par as well, what's the point of having a tv who's gadgets and special features cant be utilized and is most likely the reason cheaper tv's look the same as the known brands.
Take a sinotec and sony and hook them up to a feed in the uk - i'm sure you'll notice the difference.
Over here in SA, still behind times for now...
I'll buy a well known barnd when i know it can be fully uitllized, I have a sinotec and my buddy has lg, compared side by side with dstv hd - cant spot the difference once settings are adjusted.

The Sony's do look good especially when connected up correctly.
Latest models with motionflow - damn.
But the warranty is always an issue, I am a big fan of sony products but when you hear of people having to take them back for repairs etc or when they go pop.
too expensive, ditch the fancy adverts on tv and magazines and give us decnet price and warranty "if you make it happen they will come" :)
Not so much a fan anymore.

thats the only thing that pushed me to get the sinotec, the 5 yr warranty, its piece of mind that I will be watching TV on an LCD for the next 5 yrs without having to worry about it breaking after a year
