So I got this new V series... its cool I think, new Bravia engine has alot more cool features and OSD. Just the remote is crap compared to the old one.

With the HD decoder is it true that they charge R2000 to install it? Its the same dish same wires except some dual LNb thing with a Multiswitch and something else. Its cant be that expensive to install right?

2k is a ripoff for the HD installation. MC quoted me R800 with twin LNB etc. BTW I'm thinking of going for the V as well. Can you provide more info eg. picture quality in sports, moving objects, colour reproduction etc. is it decent?

i also saw the V today at makro. I was very close to getting it before hand, but once i saw it, and saw the Blu ray dvd they were playing on it, i started having 2nd thoughts... They were playing one of the pixar movies and i noticed a fair amount of jerkiness while the movie was playing... I didnt expect that to happen and if that happens in a movie, then i dont think the sport will be any good...

I did however see a LG 42" Full HD (100hz version) on special for 13999, now that seemed like a better option...

Mmm, ok. Well I'm on my way to grab the V now. Will get them to run a BD movie and check out the quality.

Damn! How long is this special gonna last?

I have to wait another week to get my bucks! But I'm definitely gonna get a Sony with a Bravia engine!

BTW! Is it a V6 or V8 engine? Anybody know?

This is my second V series. I think the picture on the 550 seems better. There was a bit of ghosting yesterday but its gone today... weird. Think it just needs to be burned in for a while.
Picture quality is excellent for a TV without Motion flow. Apparently Motion flow only makes a difference when you watch BR movies. Yet to try it out yet. But just for DSTV cant really fault the TV in anyway.

It has a USB port, it finds movies but cant play it, no DivX player, but it plays music and you can view pics and save them as wallpapers and make the TV look like a picture frame, if thats your thing:p

Theres an Eco mode as well, ut for better picture and sound, I put it off.

Bravia engine 3 is growing on me, just the Bravia 3 remote sucks compared to the BE2. Also the inputs at the back are all on the left hand side, my old V series is in the middle, might not mean anything to you though.

Im content with it. There is a Samsung for the same price, Full HD with 200hz Trumotion... I ignored it and went with the Sony.
I suspect the LG you talking of is a Plasma TV, they also have a 600hz full HD plasma.

where did u get the W series from and what price? I went to game and they had a shop demo model available for 11k... Sales rep said it had only been on the shelf for a few weeks.. still had the box and everything.. was the older 450A model though i think..

11k is a decent price. I paid 14k for the W450 and PVR, (from Game) was marked R15999 for TV only. I negotiated with the manager and got the display unit and new PVR for 14k. Trust me the motionflow is more important IMO as I could not find the difference from BE2 to BE3. The MC installer was left in awe once he saw the quality. Grab it dude!

Also the W450 is a 10bit panel. S and V are 8 bit. The picture quality on 10 bit are far more superior.
