That's because the Malaysians have finally asked the Americans for help. They very pointedly avoided dealing with the USA for nearly a week.
 
There are reports that the Malaysian government has decided the missing Malaysia Airlines flight was definitely hijacked.

An unnamed Malaysian official has told Associated Press that hijacking was no longer a theory but "conclusive".

The official says no motive has been established and it is not known where the plane could have been taken.

Malaysia's prime minister Najib Razak will hold a press conference soon.

The Boeing 777-200ER, flight number MH370, disappeared a week ago with 239 people on board during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

The search for the plane originally centred on the South China Sea, but authorities have shifted their focus west of the intended flight path to the Indian Ocean.

It took them a week but finally the Malaysian authorities have conceded the plane? It is closer than they think. But I'm worried about the pilot.

I wondered (post #12) if it was deliberately brought down after having seen the names of the pilot and co-pilot but it seems that I was partly wrong!

Well it was deliberately brought down safely. I doubt the pilot was involved but I could be wrong.

If you're keen to do some research there is the matter of a tubular cylinder. Has it been used before in previous hijackings and what it might contain?

The communications systems of missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 were deliberately disabled, Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak has said.

According to satellite and radar evidence, he said, the plane then changed course and could have continued flying for a further seven hours.

A satellite was able to pick up a signal from the plane for some seven hours after it lost radar contact, although it was unable to give a precise location, Mr Razak said.

He went on to say that based on this new data, investigators "have determined the plane's last communication with a satellite was in one of two possible corridors":

a northern corridor stretching from the border of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan through to northern Thailand
a southern corridor stretching from Indonesia to the southern Indian Ocean

A bit premature.. the Black boxes are needed before anyone can make any rational conclusion. The Autopilot is fully capable of turning the plane at waypoints.

If someone had hijacked the plane and flew around seemingly in control for hours why would they not want to make contact with the world
 
Haven't had the time (taken the time) to read this whole thread - but has anyone else wondered about the number of IT specialists on board? Could be a plain criminal operation - there might be some highly specialised knowledge on there.
 
Or it can be sitting at Waterkloof while some passengers are visiting the Guptas.

Yes - the US renditioned (sounds wrong, but fits) a entire plane to get to a number of the passengers.

One of the many problems with this theory is that there are several thousand Air Force and Navy personnel stationed on Diego Garcia and it's a compact facility with just the one runway. It's impossible for it to have landed there secretly in the wake of all this media coverage.
