So the ANCYL are plotting to overthrow another country...

The ANC or SA Govt will be doing some damage control again.

The president of the African National Congress Youth League, Julius Malema, has attacked Botswana's government as "a serious threat to Africa."

The country is not only a neighbour of South Africa's, but it is also represented in the Southern African Development Community.

Addressing a media conference on Sunday following the conclusion of the African National Congress Youth League (Ancyl)'s National Executive Conference (NEC), Malema said that those groups opposing Botswana's present government needed to be consolidated and that the ANCYL would assist in this respect.

"That puppet government [of President Ian Khana] is going to undermine the African agenda," Malema added.

He said that those opposed to Botswana's present government needed to organise so that they could topple the regime in a "democratic manner."

A detailed plan would be made by the ANCYL team set up by the NEC to handle the situation in Botswana. "But we won't share these details with you," Malema said, glancing at the media.

He added that the ANCYL would be visiting Botswana and receiving guests from that country to discuss the consolidation of the opposition in that country.

"We know that Botswana is in discussions to open a military base for the imperialists and the present government of Botswana has the potential to co-operate in this manner."

If this is true, then this will be a problem. If the US/EU/NATO forces are going to start setting even MORE military bases all around Africa, this can only lead to more wars and chaos.

Even Russia is against this, the US/NATO have set up military bases close to Russia and the Russians are wondering why...

We should also be wondering why. I hope this is just a rumor and not true(probably IS true)...

SIGH....

We're fscked!!! The American's setting up a base on our border can only mean one thing. So you'd better hide your kids, hide your wives...

Since when did the YL start to direct foreign policy?

Why go after Botswana (one of Africa's actual working countries) and not Zimbabwe?

Simple answer... Botswana is not an African dictatorship in fat Julie's eyes.

Exactly.

Where's the fun in destroying lives, the economy and committing genocide in a country already brought to its knees?

It's always easier to destroy than it is to constructively contribute to unification and empathising with each other.

While I'm no fan of Malema, a foriegn military base in Botswana is not good news for anyone. Hopefully it's just a rumour though.

What right does the ANCYL have to interfere in any country's internal affairs? After all, they are not even a registered political party! According to JuJu he is not even a public figure and holds no position in any public office.

Should the ANC Kindergarden not be focussing on uplifting the young masses playing in the South African sandbox?

Hmmm, I find this worrying.

Botswana is a fully functioning, and very stable country. I read on wiki that they spend 17% of all their government spending on education! Yet the fat cat Julius thinks he has the right to complain about Botswana? Just who the fusk does this complete moron think he is!?

Julius, I hope you like hot weather, because hell is only a life time away

Comrade Malema is right. You can't have yankee imperialists setting up shop in Botswana. You may find Malema distasteful but don't let that divert you from 'progressive' principles .

I don't see "yankee" in the article. For all we know it could be a Chinese base...

China are making deals with African governments to get resources. So unless US intervenes in upcoming sub Saharan African conflicts and assist those countries with power transition to US friendly entities then China will become the new worldwide power.

Highly unlikely that it is a Chinese base, we all know it's more likely this is a base by US/EU/NATO forces as those are the ones who are usually called imperialists especially when it's Malema making the speech.
