... so its only an understood meaning of inkwenkwe - it doesn't literally mean uncircumcised. Old Phosa is grasping at straws.
Correct.

Furthermore if we had to take Jewish and Muslim babies and perhaps a few other religious groups who practice circumcision at birth, how the heck can we call a new born circumcised baby boy, a man? It works both ways.

Madam Zille meant Master Malema is "wet behind the ears" and for the record I agree that is all she meant, literally and figuratively. End of story.

Can we please wet more than his ears, and for longer... I was thinking his whole head and for at least three hours

It's a Xhosa thing - circumcision is part of the ritual to manhood, as far as I understand it.

+1

It's starting to get winer now then you will hear the reports of children dying when they do these camps.... someone should explain this to me cause i get these idea's about traditional healers chomping off boy's skins with al these traditional tools. Nasty in my head but it might be untrue.

I just know that the people are very proud and your are look at as a boy if this was not done.

I knew the 2009 erections, err, elections would be a circus, but never ever did I imagine I would be reading/hearing so much about people's paynuses in respectable newspapers & on talk radio

Circumcision is also a Jewish thing. In some orthodox Eastern European churches, its also "the thing", Shadowfox & Mila. It goes way back in many cultures but I still don't really get the point of it, physically speaking. I'll stop right here before derailing this thread.

In Xhosa, its done on the first day of the initiation school. Initiation schools are normally held on Summer, Winter school holidays and last for about 4-5 weeks.

And your point is? Like i said people die every year at these camps, you do not hear of Jew's dying at camps where they get chomped?

I agree with Mikroz 100%

+1, it has nothng to do with him not being "chomped" it is simply pointing out that he has not undergone their tribal right of passage, and therefore acts like a child. Not that I believe this is the cause, but this is all that was being pointed out!

I am aware of all that Vinia, but thanks for pointing it out. We were however discussing the relevance in Xhosa culture. In Xhosa culture, the circumcision is done as part of the ritual to manhood. I'm not sure what the reason is in Judaism - or any other religion that advocates it for that matter - but that isn't part of this discussion.

It's not unique to culture however - it gets done for so-called medical reasons as well - outside of Judaism and Xhosa beliefs. There are several arguments for and against it, which I won't go into now.
