Can anyone tell me how to get this bloody program to work so I can play Snow Bros. I tried the whole night last night with no luck.

Just run the program, select the ROM, and off you go.
It should be as simple as that.

It could be the ROM might require some other type of BIOS ROM as well.

I haven't used mame in a while but you need two things:

The mame program (which one are you using?)
and the mame rom of the game (you have this?)

ROMS usually come in .zip files. You will then place the roms in a folder and make sure that the program is configured to see that folder as the roms folder. A good mame program should see the rom and check for integrity - if you don't have the proper rom, it will come with an error and not work.

if its not working, try get all the versions of snow bro's and the bootleg versions, sometimes they need some of the files from the different version!

Er...

Have mame32 copied into wherever on your PC.
Place the Snow Bros ROM zip file (still zipped) into the mame32/roms directory.

Run mame32.exe, select Snow Bros and press enter.

I am using Mame 32 fo r(available from classicgaming.com/mame32qa) with no problem on both XP and W2K computers. This version is the official release for Windows and currently stands at version 101 If you need assistance pm me and I will assist, presuming it is on windows. Also, if you have a large number of ROM's something like clrmamepro or romcenter will be of great value, especially since Mame tends to require a number of ROM changes with each new version. If you have a fast computer Mame is definitely worth it because they emulate most Arcade games perfectly. Another good source for emulator info used to be www.retrogames.com

When you start the game... it will tell you that the roms are missing... just write them down.. (do a google search) download them into the folder where you copied your roms and it should play..

Also... When you copy your Mame into the computer, you should go to options>Directories, then choose the location for your roms...

Cool, finally got it to work... Now I just need to know the controls

Press the tab key during the game and all options will be revealed. Remember to activate your joystick from the options menu before you start a game...
