A 30-year-old Slatington man knocked on a door in the 300 block of N. Lumber Street in Allentown on Monday night, telling the resident there that he had just been shot and needed help, police said.

Police were called to the home at 11:16 p.m. and found Joshua J. Spaar with a gunshot wound, Assistant Chief David Howells Jr. said. According to police radio reports, the gunshot was to the lower body.

Spaar told police he had been drinking at Medina's Hotel Grand at 10th and Linden streets and left when the bar closed at 11 p.m. He said he began walking and was approached by three young males who attempted to go through his pockets, Howells said.

One of the males pulled a gun on Spaar, who questioned whether the gun was loaded, Howells said. The gunman shot Spaar and then all three suspects fled, he said.

Tip: If you're being robbed at gunpoint, don't ask the attackers if their gun is loaded ;)

Robber "Put your hands up this is a robbery"
Victim "Hi, before I do that, just one question is your gun loaded."
Robber "Shut the Fsk up. Of cause it is loaded"
Victim "How do I know for sure maybe you bluffing"

What makes my blood boil is that it is becoming such a norm, we are joking about it. I know humour is the way we handle hard times. But still it sickens me...

But what else can one do?
