Man held for Hazyview Murder

Where did it make any mention of the robbers being hungry? The poor victim paid the price of trying to be a hero.

The newest excuse for murdering people.

I honestly read this article and thought it was tragic.

Tragic because Mothiba obviously had a heavy guilty conscious to confess, he kicked Swemmer because the others told him to but he didn't do the actual murder.
Everyone can sit at home and judge a hungry man for his action but I can promise that if the majority of people were in his shoes they would also reach for desperate measures, not to say that the majority would murder.
It's also tragic because we have a helpless old man who served not only South Africa, but the world and Korea through WW2 and the Korean War only to meet a violent end.

Poverty is a terrible thing.

And if you carry on reading you will find quiet a few people agrees with him.

We are probably not going to understand many murders in SA because we are not prepared to openly talk about IT.

I agree, but just reducing the reasons to hatred and racism doesn't really help - that's not really exploring the reasons. Most racists are not murderers so there must be more to it.

Not that i condone this, but the guy apparently grabbed the attacker.

Define "grabbed". Was he going to bliksem him? take is gun? beg him for mercy? it sounded liek the original intent was not to break in and murder the guy, or they would have murdered his wife too.

not that i care, but it didn't sound premeditated, so don't come with "murder = hatred" **** please. i'm sick of genocide stories

IT'S MURDER!!
1) They were there illegally with firearms = Armed robbery and someone dies = murder.

Hope the die in jail!! Or even better before they even go to jail.

Don't you think it's important to try understand these murders and why people behave this way? Surely it is only by understanding the reasons can we figure out how to prevent such violence in the future...

(Trying to understand or feeling pity for a murderer does NOT in any way mean I'm justifying murder or that I'm trying to make excuses for them.)
Quite right.

Which statement is false?
