Hello all. I hope I'm posting in the right place. Since I upgraded to 10.0.2 I'm having continual issues with my Maps app. It crashes all the time. So you can be in the middle of nowhere, start it, start driving and then after a while you notice it isn't talking any more and check and see that it's crashed.

I've googled and seen suggestions for soft and hard resets, which I've done. There is another option to restore all settings which I don't want to do unless it's a last resort as it will wipe passwords and a bunch of other things. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Not helpful, but I use Google Maps all the time with no hassle on 10.1. Why haven't you updated the OS?

Since the Maps app is a native app, I would echo what Raithlin said and suggest updating your iOS to the latest version.

In any case, Google Maps is more complete and accurate than Apple Maps (IMHO), so I use that instead. Give it a try if you haven't done so already.

I've been using Google maps since I had my first iPhone and never really bothered with Apples Maps since.

I see that too. Quite reliably. I did do a clean restore, had to set up a million settings again, latest iOS and it still happens. So I now use Google maps. I kind of like Apple maps more.

On that note, anyone use Waze?
Waze is good for traffic info, but maps are awful.
Anyone use HERE? Still didn't upgraded to iOS7 needed to use it.
I am mostly using apps with offline maps. "Ulmon Pro CityMaps2go" or "Maps.me". These apps use opentreetmap.org database and carry more info about places like shops than Google. Both go free at times, watch out and download full version without restrictions.

Yes yes yes! Thought I was the only one and meant to start a thread asking the same thing.

Seems to be solid until there is a turn.

I like maps because it shows on my Apple watch.

Google maps also crashes frequently.

It seems to be very area specific, so I think it might be actual problem with the underlying map itself.

Had it around very specific area in Milnerton and Table View now and so has my wife.

Works fine around home and work.

I am on the latest update on my i7 and I too have occasional issues with Maps. I generally have Google Maps and Here Maps installed too.

I have found Google Maps is easier to use than Maps and usually offers more alternative routes at the start of navigation whilst still being pretty accurate with traffic info. Here Maps is great for the offline maps and speed alerts feature but traffic travel times is always quite off. Apple Maps is great with Siri but still lags behind Google Maps with general use.

I've been trying Waze on the iPhone. It doesn't look as great, but I like the Bluetooth functionality that uses the phone call to give you updates if you aren't using the phone for music already. I need to see if Google does that. I saw an option somewhere.

Need to give Here a try as well. You can never have too many map apps. Except Apple Maps. I uninstalled that.
