Another post to balance all the negativity some forum members so happily peddle!

However, Maradona has no such concerns for his team and said: ''They can say what they want but we know we are coming to play the World Cup in a safe country.

''I have seen that with my own eyes. Anything can happen in the world but I have spent a week in South Africa and everything is very good and the people very friendly.

''This will be a great World Cup with no doubts of security. I will tell my players that they only have to think of playing football when they come here and worry about nothing else.

''I think that it is only fair for South Africa to host the World Cup because they have deserved it for a very long time.''

I'll keep going as long as they feel the need to do so.

I agree with this:

Its true, the players have absolutely nothing to worry about. They will be treated like royalty Im sure ;)

I hope he's right, but coming to that conclusion after only one week.... I hope he is psychic too. :D

People act as though we have never hosted a big tournament in this country WTF. GO Maradona, you tell them.

The level of security for the WC is in no way comparable to any other event we have ever hosted.

On the other hand, its about effective policing rather than just having large numbers.

At Cape Town stadium there were 1,000 police offices but half of them were sitting down trying to avoid the sun. Whats point then?

Glad to know they are looking after the soccer teams and visitors so well.

Pity they cannot do the same for people who actually live here all year round.
