I completely lost track after mechanical animals.
Fun fact my mom threw away my CDs of him because they were "duiwelse musiek".
Looking at the covers now(actually ridiculous "gogga maak vir baba bang" stuff), I don't blame her.
I find a lot of the recent stuff actually harks back to similar vibes of Mechanical Animals.
Mechanical Animals to this day is his best work. I actually find it very hard to listen to anything that came before that as it was a bit too on the nose and shock value oriented rather than intelligent.
As of MA and beyond the political and society commentary has become a lot more clever and a little more subtle.
Artistically he’s the likes of Freddie Mercury when it comes to blending genres.
I mean a gospel choir in I Don’t Like The Drugs combined with that baseline and almost 80’s glam pop overtones? That’s some genius right there.
