Hello All

I am going to propose to my GF in the near future.

I thought I would take her on a helicopter ride and then work in the big question during or after....

Any other good ideas for proposing?

And yes, I have considered the "D in a box with added bling" idea, but ultimately, it will just make the diamond look very small :D

Whats wrong with doing it over dinner, if she wants to marry you she will be thrilled. If she doesn't then proposing when hot air ballooning over the Vic falls isn't going to make much of a difference is it?

If you want to make a special memory out of it, buy her a bigger diamond.

Helicopter is a bit loud hey. There is no quicker mood-spoiler with your gf going "hah? what you say?" and you having to repeat yourself.

Nice quiet picnic at Kirstenbosch gardens on a good day outweighs anything IMO. Get some random person to ask "so when you two getting married" then maybe pop the question right there

A friend of mine went on holiday to Mozambique. He hid the ring in a box in the ocean and then went snorkeling with her. He then subtly steered her towards the box and allowed her to "discover it". She was all worried that some poor person had lost her ring until he said it wasn't lost, and dropped to one knee. Pretty cool proposal I thought.

I would go with this one tbh. Keep it simple.

Friend of mine took his gf on a sunset boat/dinner he found advertised on the internet. Problem was they packed the people onto a fishing trawler thing that stunk, and the tables were long bench tables, so they had these sour ooms squashing in to either side. He took her out on deck and the engine was too loud, so he would have had to shout his proposal lol. Afterwards he was grumbling to me, saying "This would never happen to brad pitt" He had another such disaster and only ended up proposing on the third try.

I have a friend, or met someone that did that in Mozambique - trying to remember who it was.

Do it while skydiving. If she says no, hand a backpack instead of parachute.

The diamond is big enough and she moved 1,400km after 2 years of long distance relationship to be in the same city as me. I suspect she will say yes :p

That's sweet especially if it's done large enough to be seen from the helicopter.

Well that is actually a good idea, thanks.

This I also like. Ps should I park the helicopter in the back ground for effect?

Also I soubt I will have to say a lot once I take out the ring.... it kind of asks "will you marry me".

I really do however like the idea of a stranger asking and then popping the question :D
