I have an LG G4 Beat that I upgraded to Marshmellow. After that the internet banking authentication. I have tried with ABSA and Nedbank and get the same error. The phone beeps like it got a message but no white box shows up.

I have contacted Vodacom and they say it is a banking problem or a software problem and basically I must downgrade or contact the bank. Tried contacting the bank and well ya. No body had any idea of what I am talking about. I have factory reset the phone. Looked on forums how to roll back to lollipop. But I don't want to root my phone.

This is getting really frustrating I can't add beneficiaries, online shopping or install the app.

Anybody got any ideas?

So basically you're having issues seeing your SMS's.... are they from banks only or do you not get your SMS's in general? Maybe try switch to a different messaging app to handle your SMS's and see? Could also be the spam filter they have built into Marshmellow

No. It's not sms. To quote ABSA

Instead of receiving an SMS with a link when trying to complete certain transactions, you will now receive a SureCheck menu which will appear on your phone screen. You will have the option to "Accept" or "Reject" the transaction described in the message.

* Once you "Accept" or "Reject" the transaction, then click on the "Continue" button on the Cellphone Banking screen to complete your transaction.

So it's a box that pops up and then you put 1 or 2 in and click submit.

So its seems you having a problem receiving USSD messages then. Can you access the Vodacom *111# USSD menu?
Also what happens when you try to install the app?

The *111# works fine. Its only the bank authentications that I am problems with it seems.

I'm having the same issue with the Nedbank app, have a custom rom with Marshmellow installed and its not even allowing me to add my banking details, just keeps telling me the details are incorrect.

OP, shot in the dark over here.

How did u upgrade your Android? official OTA, or root and ROM?

I heard rumors awhile ago that ABSA will not work (correctly) on rooted devices, can this be one of those situations?

I have the same issue with Marshmallow and Absa. Any solutions?

I have the same problem. Is there any fix for this problem?? I've spend now two day searching the internet for anything, but no luck. Please help

Is there really no solution to this problem? What are you guys doing in the mean while?

I tried buying airtime from ABSA rewards. I received the surecheck menu 5 minutes after I gave up.

I recently got an LG G4 Beat and have the same problem. I phoned ABSA Bank and their product specialist said they are aware of the problem being on the LG G4 Beat and that I should contact my service provider as there is an issue with receiving USSD codes and that they must make setting change on their side. I am in the process of changing cellular service providers so will wait till the change has taken affect, check if the problem still exists, and then contact my new service provider if needed. I'll keep this post updated.

ABSA bank tel # for help: 0860008600 - follow the voice prompts

G4 Beat as well on Android 6.0 and I get the sound of the Surecheck coming through, but the popup doesn't come up. I've done a factory reset and no joy. FYI

I've tried installing the ABSA android app thinking that might be a requirement but still no joy. I now carry a second old phone around to get the surecheck messages on. Stupid solution but it works

Guys, I contacted the bank and requested that they revert me using RVN authentication via SMS. It's not a solution, but rather a workaround, but at least I can fully transact.

To get the communication with them going, send an email to their Technical area via the messaging platform within your Internet banking.

Update 2013-06-10

I have now successfully ported my number from one SP to another. Everything works as it did before I changed providers, in other words, I am getting the chime notification of the SureCheck verification, but no pop-up.

I put the SIM card in my old phone and All works OK, so the Cellular Provider is configured correctly.
The Cell number is the same number I have used for years, so the number at the bank is unchanged.

That leaves only 2 possible places for the problem, either there is a problem with the code being sent by ABSA Bank, or the LG G4 Beat has the problem.

i will persist ....

It's not the G4 beat... Surecheck worked fine until I got upgraded to marshmallow. Its the OS.
