Marzanne getting her sight back

I can understand how killing a child is a capital offence, but is hurting a child a capital offence? Personally I would love to see them both seen as death sentences, scare the crap out of those kiddy fiddlers.

Oh most definitely a capital offense in this case. The little girl is completely unable to defend herself and the bastard could have killed her. Actually, a execution is to good for the puke face. I suggest a good old fashioned castration and a blinding followed by a slow drowning and if the state can't do it, I'll be more then happy to help out.

Oh, and if it's human rights that people are worried about, don't worry, they only apply to humans.

I'm all for the death penalty, I'm just not for the current judicial system managing it.

Punishment must fit the crime. Personally I think being jailed for 40 years might be much worse but I have a major problem with paying tax money to support them for 40 years. Time to bring back hard labour so they can pay for their stay in jail.

Are you aware that death penalty cases tend to cost more than a lifetime of incarceration?

Unless of course we are just summarily executing people.

Hard labour sounds perfectly reasonable though.

Actually its not.

EDIT: To further my point, we have a joke in Walvis Bay:
"If you want to commit a crime, do it between 1 and 2, or all day during weekends, Because the police station is closed then :D

Niether of those links do your theory any good if you compare them to other african countries. Look at Figure 1 of the South Africa's Position in Africa's Crime Rankings article.

What happened? He gets a 10 year sentence or a R20000 admission of guilt.

So yes, I do appeal to emotion when it comes to the death penalty and harming an innocent child
How would the death penalty have even entered consideration? Is the judge thinking "I would have had this guy executed, but since it is not an option I'll make it 10 years or R20,000"?
