Novitec Esteso Takes Your Maserati Levante Up A Level
Novitec has been busy with a new offering for yet another Italian with the reveal of the Esteso offering for the Maserati Levante range.
The Esteso widebody package results in the Levante growing in width by 10 cm at the front and 12 cm at the rear thanks to the sweeping front and rear fender flares.
You can also fit some rocker panels, GranSport style front and rear fascias as well as rear spoiler and hood scoop made from carbon fibre.
Adding the 22″Esteso alloys will give you a centre-lock look and can be ordered in either matte black or glossy black with polished surfaces. Lowering the ride height by 25 mm further enhances the presence of the SUV which can be controlled via the Novitec control module.

Maserati Levante Trofeo Touches Down In South Africa
Back in October last year, we got confirmation that Maserati South Africa would indeed be bringing in the range-topping Levante and when it arrived, we got a quick look at the angry SUV before lockdown.
It is called the Levante Trofeo and under the hood sits a beautiful Ferrari-built 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine delivering a potent 580 hp (433 kW) and 730 Nm of torque. This grunt will get the SUV to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and will run to a top speed of 304 km/h.
“Aside from being one of the most powerful Maserati models ever, the Levante Trofeo’s sporting interior offers all the comfort of a prestigious SUV. It is built to the enduring principles of a Maserati grand touring vehicle,” says Rens Rademeyer, Dealer Principal at Maserati Johannesburg.
Pricing was around the R3,5 million mark for a fully spec’d car but with the volatile exchange rate, this is likely to increase a tad.

Initial pricing was set at R3,5m which got you pretty much a full-spec car but due to the weakening of the rand, this price has gone up slightly. We will update this article with an accurate price as soon as we have word from the local arm.

I like the Levante, and more so the Trofeo for its “Cayenne” Effect. You see, in the early 2000s, Porsche shocked us all when it officially announced that its all-new model for the 2002 model year would be a new all-wheel-drive sports utility vehicle. Surely there was no need for a sports car maker to start building SUVs, particularly large, ungainly ones for families and off-road exploration, I certainly thought.
But the Cayenne saved Porsche and so too has the Levante put Maserati back on the map as a genuine contender in the premium segment.
And yes, you could save a ton of cash and buy a much more powerful Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, or you could even buy an Alfa Romeo Stelvio QV on a smaller scale if you like your performance kicks in a small SUV package, but at the end of the day, that trident on the car has provenance and the Trofeo is, after all, the most powerful production car Maserati has ever made.
All Maserati Levante models come with a three-year/unlimited distance mechanical warranty and a five-year/100 000km maintenance plan. You can contact Maserati South Africa for a one-on-one demonstration of the Trofeo during the national lockdown.

Maserati writes a new chapter in its history by expanding its Trofeo collection. Following the 2018 launch of Levante Trofeo, the SUV's most extreme, most powerful version, the new Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli Trofeo are now available, achieving the pinnacle of performance, sportiness and luxury.
To highlight once again Maserati's all-Italian identity, the colours chosen for the Trofeo collection launch are those of the country's flag: green for Quattroporte, white for Levante and red for Ghibli, which combine with the burnished chrome-work and glossy red trims for a particularly aggressive and elegant look.
Maserati reinterprets its sedans by introducing the V8 engine.
The heart of Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo is the 3.8 l V8 Twin Turbo with power output of 580 hp at 6,250 rpm and peak torque of 730 Nm.
The engine, which has already revealed all its power on Levante Trofeo, is built at the Ferrari plant at Maranello to Maserati's specifications, and has been modified and developed to deliver equally impressive performances on the rear-engine sedans.
Although completely new for Ghibli, the V8 engine has already been used in the past on Quattroporte GTS, in the 530 hp version. Today the 580 hp V8 engine is available on the new Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante Trofeo, in full compliance with fuel efficiency and emissions standards.
Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo can proudly claim to be the fastest Maserati sedans ever, with a top speed of 326 km/h. Levante Trofeo's maximum speed is 302 km/h.

Maserati teases new sub-Levante SUV ... and it's called 'Grecale'
Maserati has confirmed it plans to slot a new performance SUV in below the Levante, with the newcomer set to be called the Grecale.
In the extensive press kit released after the reveal of the new MC20 mid-engined supercar, the Italian company confirms the new SUV will wear the Grecale badge.
“The future Maserati SUV will carry the name of a wind. It is to be called Grecale, after the fierce north-east wind of the Mediterranean Sea, and it is destined to play a key role in the brand’s development,” the firm said.
Reports out of Italy suggest the new model will run on the same platform as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio (and be built alongside its cousin at the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' Cassino plant), with production scheduled to commence in 2021.

New Maserati Levante Hybrid brings improved agility and efficiency
Italian SUV adopts an electrified 2.0-litre petrol engine offering performance on a par with the standard V6Maserati has taken its next step towards electrification with the unveiling of the Levante Hybrid, which follows the Ghibli saloon in adopting 48V mild-hybrid functionality for improved efficiency.
On sale late this year, the new Levante variant pairs a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a belt-integrated starter-generator, which recovers energy under braking and deceleration to charge a boot-mounted battery.
This in turn powers an ‘eBooster’ electric motor to provide a slight power boost under acceleration and at low revs.
Despite cutting emissions by 18% (to 231-252g/km) over the non-electrified petrol V6, the all-wheel-drive Hybrid offers comparable outputs of 325bhp and 332lb ft, which gets it from 0-62mph in six seconds, and to a top speed of 149mph.

Following in the footsteps of the Ghibli Hybrid that was announced last year, Maserati has revealed the Hybrid version of the Levante SUV.
Like its Ghibli sibling, the Levante Hybrid has been confirmed for South Africa, although final timing has yet to be released.
Despite their names, these new models are actually ‘mild hybrids’ but they do help to kickstart the Italian premium carmaker’s electrification plans. Fully electric cars are also in the pipeline, starting with the replacements for the GranTurismo and GranCabrio, which are due later this year.
The Levante Hybrid follows the same recipe as the Ghibli, with power coming from a 2-litre, four-cylinder direct injection turbopetrol engine that’s paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid system to recover energy during deceleration and braking. The powertrain produces 243kW and 450Nm, which should be enough to get this snazzy SUV from 0-100km/h in six seconds and on to a top speed of 240km/h.

Maserati is celebrating the 95th anniversary of its racing debut with commemorative editions of its Levante SUV and Ghibli saloon.
On 25 April 1926, company founder Alfieri Maserati claimed victory in the 1500cc class at the formidable Targa Florio race with the Tipo 26 - "the first racing car to bear the trident on its bonnet".
That win paved the way for Maserati's long and storied motorsport career, which is soon to be resurrected after a several-year hiatus with racing derivatives of the new MC20 supercar.
To celebrate 95 years in top-flight motorsport, Maserati has revealed a heritage-inspired F Tributo trim package for the 2021 Ghibli and Levante.
Available in a choice of Rosso Tributo red or Azzurro Tributo blue, the special editions are said to "evoke Maserati's audacious spirit" with "alluring" exterior styling.
