Massive DSL price cuts

...
Imagine how much worse this would be if Telkom did not infact lower their ADSL line rentals as from 1st August
...
In my case there is no need to draw on my imagination - I would be a mere R17 per month worse off than I currently am thanks to Telkodemonopolies and its still exorbitant pricing...I would wish Telkodemonopolies a painfully long death, but that would only prolong our suffering, so instead I wish Telkodemonopolies a quick and painful death!!!

yup.just for a millisecond....but then i remembered telscum.

Strike!

Hi guys

i had a thought just now, while reading this article,
Why Don't South Africans STRIKE, boycott Telkom!! ?
i understand businesses and individuals need and depend on their connectivity, however in the ideology, we are powerless in this monopoly, Prisoner by our own provider! Telkom.
i Suggest when i comes again to the end of the month, switch off those Routers and plug in your old modems and dial-up for a while again. GPRS HSDPA 3G, there are alternatives. and it would only be temporary, just to make them wake-up... and see that we can revolt, and that we South Africans are not the passive slugs that take Telkoms ***T.

i ask you ADSL'rs What would happen?
How badly do you realy want the price to meet international standards?

think about it Telkom, we give you money, you give us service, its a tradition, called trade....

the truth

this goes to all the posters who thought the headline "massive dsl prive cuts" applied to us, and to all those still complaining about telkom.....

1) Santa Clause is not real.
2) Neither is Mrs. Clause.
3) Your puppy that went to "live on a farm" is dead.
4) So is Elvis.
5) And most importantly, Telkom have got you by the balls!

Enjoy your day :)

Hi.
I'm from Turkey and I would like to tell something about our ADSL tariffs.

Turk Telekom is single about communication (adsl, tel, tec.) on Turkey.

We're using maximum bandwith 2 MBps unlimited for 152 United States Dollar ($) (229 ytl (new turkish lira)) (1$ = 1,5 ytl)
And another ADSL tariffs are;
1 MBps unlimited 92,6 $ (139 ytl)
512 kbps unlimited 59.3 $ (89 ytl)
256 kbps unlimited 32.6 $ (49 ytl)

And limited tariffs below:

1 Mbit 3 GB download limited 19.3 $ (29 ytl)
1 mbit 6 GB download limited 32.6 $ (49 ytl)
1 mbit 9 GB download limited 46 $ (69 ytl)

What do you do if you are us?

Regards...

Take the 512k uncapped ;)

You guys are far better off than us, but you could complain to your telecoms regulator, try and convince them to follow international norms and unbundle your local loop and open up the market to anyone willing to provide the service.

We wish we could.
But our ISP is monopolize our communication system around our country. That's why we can't protest them in commercial and common ways.
We have only one way i think. We should be in action againist Telecom in streets. But that is so difficult thing for our people; becouse they don't like things which make them uncomfortable and tired.
Now I'm connected with 256kbit. If we can't put our reaction, we may be lose this too :(

Or maybe we are living in a "matrix" style world.
One Telkom to rule them all... *film screeches to a halt* Sorry! wrong film. :p

And how would using other services where Telkom provides the bandwidth help to convince them that we are revolting?
