You're choosing to disregard the cost to the manufacturer, or then retailer. Raw materials, labour rates etc. increase... price of end product increases...

The reason I ask is that our prices are on parity with Aus and the UK so such an increase seems a bit rash. Also our pricing is based on the UK which is holding a lot better than the US.

They won't sell games @ R1000. They will realize that selling some games are better than not selling anything at all, so they will drop the price again. If they don't I will be selling my Xbox by end of Feb.
Personally I think this artical is just a trick by the suppliers to try and make you panic and so that you would go out and buy lots of games before the end of the year.
Edit: I guess I'm wrong, this has been confirmed by Take2 as well.

I actually saw your other thread where you talked about saving 7K. You should look at renting and buying pre-played. Also places like Kalahari, Take2 and Loot are often better priced than CNA and Musica.
Anyways, I hope you have fun with your PS3, it is a good console.
It is simply reality. Make it more worthwhile to have the console chipped and people will do it. Then that will become the standard and they will struggle to change it back.The cost of the game is no excuse for pirating...it is just too easy to pirate something than to actually work for it...
