Massive youtube preview thumbnails

Something in the code for loading YouTube has been changed within the last week or so - I just saw this happening as I opened YouTube in Chrome on my Windows 11 PC - after I changed the zoom back to 110% (my default setting) to see if there was any update or change from them...

It displays the blank frames for FOUR thumbnails for a few seconds as YouTube opens up - then it suddenly changes as the actual thumbnails load up & shows only the THREE large thumbnails per row.

I saw it this evening. From getting around 15 combined videos and shorts per screen, to getting three videos and five shorts per screen at FHD. Even increasing to 1440p only increases each by one. Thumbnails are literally bigger than my phone.

Oh, I want more people to post their thumbnail concerns. It is an interesting issue to see.

The constipated-look thumbnails are far worse.

I must say, I am not attracted to it, though studies say otherwise. For someone who has touched base with consumer psychology, I think they are trolling their clients. Then again, my psyche is strange. I am most certainly not the norm.

I can't disagree with the studies. I will agree to disagree.

Just YouTube doing stupid YouTube things like nobody QA’d anything.

The more ridiculous recent change is sorting all Subscriptions alphabetically instead of recent usage making it utterly useless to me now.

Seems to be a common trend. Netflix did the same where you can only see a few posters at a time even if you have a 4k 65inch+ TV.

Doesn't make any sense.

Shorts are from the devil.
