[May 2013..Dec 2013] The Gauteng E-tolling Thread

The same way that (some) people living in abject poverty just keep on voting ANC, the same way (some) distinctly middle class people scream and shout and threaten action against the "evil" e-tolls .... and then end up caving in like the sheep that they are.

Pathetic.

Sorry guys, but its not always that straight forward.

I seriously do not agree with e tolls, or voluntarily support it, but being someone that travels 160 km daily on the roads it's either sign up and spend max R450 a month, or deprive my kids when paying R1800+ bill every month.

I guess I am the small minority that will pay the R450 whereas the claimed majority will pay less the R100 or worst case R350 if you don't buy a tag.... So no big impact for you.

I closed this thread because it was getting a bit long now (well over 2000 posts).
As you know, the super long threads tend to make the forum a bit unstable.
We are expecting a flurry of new activity in it today and I thought it best to collect people's actual experiences with the tolling system in a new thread.
I have linked to the old one in the first post of the new one so people can still find it quite easily.
I still plan to go and link to the most important posts like DJ's calculations in the first post of the new thread.
It will take me some time to go through the old one, so please be patient.
If there is a post that you made in this thread that you would like copied over to the new thread, please PM me.

New thread is here....
