So a year ago I was manager at a nightclub, me and another women (my senior) So money went missing and she blamed me. But she mainly worked with the money. She just said I have to pay it back.
It was quite a big sum. I started worrying were I would get the money to pay something back I didn’t take.
Then I found out she didn’t even tell the owner and was cooking the books to hide it from him. So I went straight to him.
He investigated found that we both had a responsibility and deducted R2000 a month from my salary.
After that I never worked with the clubs money again and money went missing again. She claimed it was me I had secretly made myself spare keys. ( I’m so bloody blond I didn’t even think in that direction).
So I went to the owner and resigned, telling him I’m fed up with this money going missing thing.
Surprise surprise he didn’t know about it again!! She was cooking the books again.
About a week later I got fed up chucked the keys on her table and left, after the key throwing episode I showed her what I looked like when I’m roaringly drunk!!! That was what she was accusing me of that particular day that and the fact that now she has been telling everybody I stole the money(customers and staff).
So after a few weeks I heard the stories that she told everybody I stole the money and that’s why I left.

But the whole long boring story is just to say that I just heard that they are giving them all polygraphs this morning and finally the right person will be found guilty!!!!
And boy believe me I’m going to yell her name and the whole story from the top of buildings if they catch her out!!!

But she is so good with hiding it that she will probably get someone else blamed but maybe that time I planted the seed and she will be caught out………………………… one day.

Aren't you glad you don't have to do the polygraph - good move resigning when you did. You can keep the loot for yourself now. And this post is clever too - just make sure the boss man sees it and you can be on your way to sipping Mojitos on your retirement detination of choice...

I phoned and told them to please let me know i want to do one too.
 
An employer is not allowed to make any such deductions from an employee's salary without going through the disciplinary process.
 
nightclubs aren't the most formal of working environments, i know guys who work bars and then just get paid for the hours they work, no contract, nada.

What she said.

It is illegal to deduct anything from an employee's salary anyway. Unless consent is given by the employee (advance loan etc)....

Clearly you haven't worked in the nightclub industry. The rules are a little different, my porcupine...
 
I know but as always I’m the idiot who never had any kind of contract and couldn't prove what they were paying me. Longer and more boring explanations. I found out about my rights but I was naïve going into this thing and just got fed up for everybody screwing me, that’s why I just chucked the keys and left. I also contacted their labour consultant and told them to please stop the allegations and file a criminal charge.
I never heard from them.
 
so which nightclub did you work at?
 
I’m in IT now... So much better regular hours:) I do system updates and implementing of new systems.
But imagine explaining to potential employers why I left my previous job. I just stuck to the truth went through a whole lot of interviews till a friend’s company decided to give me a chance.

It would never get that far for most nightclub employees unfortunately. Been there, done that - I know how issues are resolved. I also owned a nightclub in CPT...;)

I understand what you say .. surely it does not mean that that particular industry should not be reformed in order to gain protection for its employees?
 
Where to start? While i was stil working behind the bar i thought the barstaff had a raw deal. But the cleaning staff is the worst treated people somedays they work 17 to 19 hours and get payed for 9.
