He gets booted for speaking the truth? How in god's name could we have sold so many weapons to Libya over the years? :rolleyes:


Democratic Alliance MP David Maynier was booted from Parliament again on Wednesday.

Maynier accused Justice Minister Jeff Radebe of having blood on his hands.

The comment came after Radebe revealed that South Africa sold arms worth over R80 million to Libya.

Radebe is the chair of the National Conventional Arms Control Committee.

He said equipment sold to the troubled North African country included parachutes and various ammunition as well as night vision equipment.

The list of arms exported to Libya from 2003 to 2009 drew a nasty response from Maynier.

“Will the honourable minister tell this house what it feels like to have blood on his hands?” he asked.

The statement was ruled out of order, resulting in Maynier being ousted when he failed to obey Speaker Max Sisulu.

Instead Maynier retorted, “Honourable Speaker with respect, I refuse to withdraw those remarks."

Sisulu then asked him to leave the chamber.

It would throw weight, conclusive proof behind Maynier's statement if dead bodies of Libyan people with bullets in them can be matched up to one or more of the 100 sniper rifles sold to Libya last year.
In hindsight the 100 rifle rifles does seem like an odd order made during 2010, maybe Gadaffi had wind of the changes in his country and was arming his henchmen accordingly for civil unrest.

Similarly if anyone can remember all the weapons sold to Mugabe by South Africa and China that was in the media a couple of years ago.

Maynier wasn't asked to leave, he was chased and escorted out.

I hate the ANC more each day.
 
Manufacturing and sale of weapons is still a business unfortunately.

Given the rate at which guns go missing I'd rather they were sold than stockpiled here.
 
I've been saying for years that the ANC has blood on their hands...

Blood from innocents killed in their terrorist bombing campaigns
Blood from those who died because of failed AIDS policies
Blood from the thousands murdered each year because of uncontrollable violent crime
Blood from the deaths of those killed because of weapons sold to tyrannical governments
Blood from the support of other terrorist regimes and groups around the world
Blood from thousands of unborn babies killed each year through their abortion policies

The list goes on and on.... How anybody can support these murderers is beyond me.

I think that it was stupid for Maynier to accuse Radebe.

South Africa is in the business of making weapons. And weapons were sold to Libya since 2000. Jeff has been been a Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development since 2009, to place such big accusation on one man's shoulders is quite retarded, stupid and inconsiderate.

Let's not pretend that no one died as of the result of airstrikes carried out by Allied Forces, or those victims did not have blood? Damn, some guys in DA are really stupid, I had so much hope for DA :(

What's next? Accusing the artisans at VW of blood on their hands because they work for a company that made Citi Golf?
 
Had Maynier known his Langenhoven he could have said the same thing differently.

In Parliament, before the Rinderpes:

Langenhoven CJ, MP: "Half the members are a bunch af baboons!"

Numerous objections from MPs. Calls for apology.

Speaker: "The Honourable member from Oudtshoorn will withdraw his offensive remark."

Langenhoven: "Mr Speaker, half the members of the House are not baboons!"
