Morning Folks,

I am seriously looking into getting a Cx-5 2.2 diesel awd akera awd am looking for some insight into these please.

Any owners here who can give me some ownership insights?

I am seeing a fair bit of chirp about "oil level high" warnings and am struggling to get concrete feedback, so if any owners can privode insight that would be appreciated.

I am going to speak to the service manager at my closest dealership today but would appreciate real life ownership insights.

These cars seem be awesome and some being some duds.

But overall awesome cars!

I just belt it bit boring when i was driving it, so i went with touareg instead!

Thanks. Toureg is a BEAST but way out of my budget unless I want a real hi mileage one.

Fair enough. Just not a fan of diesel engines in passenger cars myself.
Interesting comment, care to elaborate? I have done 230k km in a BMW 320D and it has been nothing but a pleasure. Seems to suit my driving style... LOL!!!

Even the bakkies are so well insulated these days, getting out of one while it's running you are immediately caught by the racket the diesel engine is causing.

There is very little to hold against diesel cars these days, especially since some of them like your 320d are way more reliable than their petrol counterpart.

the infamous 320D stikes again!

@epah

I think the thinking is always that when diesels break... they break your bank. esp if turbos and fancy electronics are involved. Thankfully the mazda doesnt have too much that goes wrong it seems.

The Akera is really nicely spec'ed all the bells and whistles and AWD. And i think it gets under 7 to the 100

So all round a really attractive package. For me its between this and the RAV4 VX D4d (xa40 series) but that Rav comes with toyota tax and the Mazda is very underrated (so you should get one for a good price). i drove a 2l active and although its the bottom spec, i was seriously impressed with the overall package

Make sure you get one that has FSH and maybe have a trusted diesel mech have a look too...

The other thing with diesels these days is that they dont get enough freeway driving which results in problems later in life...

So take your time and hunt judiciously, im sure you will find a good one.

Indeed, it is a good value proposition. Fortunaterly I do enough freeway/city mix so no drama there. I have one going to a Mazda dealer on Thursday for thier "quality check" and if that checks out I will take it, pretty much getting ot a Trade In value so I think i could be a good deal.

Take it for a test drive on a standard SA bumpy road. The shocks are rock hard and the seats are in the words of the salesman, very "sporty". If you found the 320D comfortable prepare to be very disappointed. Just my 2c
I've been looking at the cx-5 vs. the H6, I'll definitely try take the cx-5 on a bumpy road now

Besrt you test drive them both. I had no issues with the Cx-5's drive. I was actually happy with it compared to my 320d. Have not driven the H6 as it is petrol, I specifically wanted Diesel

Duster EDC is also worth your consideration if fuel economy is what you are after

and they go for around R200K, cheaper that what you might get an akera for. Look at the top of the range spec, comes with leather seats and so on

5liters to the hundred

Thanks, buit not really my first choice, had a Megane deisle previoulsy... what a go kart, but not the finest vehicle I have owned. Add to that the significant other is rather anti French cars.... yes I know!!!! Happy wife happy life,,,

just threw it in there... i know french cars get a bad rep but the duster is actually Romanian and is an outlier in that regard.

maybe just take one for a test drive, just to see, 2018/19 models and up are the better looking and feeling ones.

At the same price you are probably only getting a 2016 CX5

Appreciate the idea, I have a 5 going to Mazda on Thursday for an inspection so lets see. If all pans out I will take it

How does a car only have 3k on it after a year and a half? That's crazy.
