Looking for some guidance - We purchased a 2017 Mazda 2 which comes with the standard Mazda MZD connect system.

I was interested to find that Mazda officially offers a upgrade kit to enable Android auto & Apple Carplay. Something I would definitely use.

Somewhere during lockdown in 2020 I emailed the local Mekor Mazda close to me here in Cape Town and got quotes for about R3000 for the part and programming.

Fast forward a few months - The car is due for a service and I thought I would get the install done at the same time but the dealership's lack of overall responsiveness is making me look the other way. At this stage they don't even answer their phones if I try and book a service let alone answer emails.

As the car is no longer in warranty I'll gladly get the upgrade done somewhere else... Google is not helping me find any other companies that offer the upgrade kit? Or I'm searching for the wrong thing....

Any suggestions to any other companies in Cape Town that sell and fit the above kit?

I don't think it is available at any place other than officially through Mazda. We had the upgrade installed on our 2016 CX-5 during a service. We told Mazda we wanted to have it installed when we booked the car for the service. See if you can do that. Otherwise look at another Mazda dealership if they are not responsive

How much did the upgrade cost you?

Thanks - Probably going to have to go to another dealership.

Necro-post.

I've bought a used Mazda 2 and am thinking about the same upgrade. Was it worth it @SoulSeeker ?

Anybody else had it done recently? And if so, what is the current going rate?

I actually never went ahead with it. Was hoping to still find a 3rd party that could do it at a more affordable price.

Do tell me if you went ahead and what your experience was.

Car sales must be pretty slow if they selling parts on takealot now.

lol

Still it is said to be close to half the price vs going straight to the dealer for it all.
stealerships need to pay for all those balloons somehow.
what I dont understand is why is it a separate part that gets hooked up, and not a firmware update or something done for free,
just rock up with your car and they do it.

almost like a safety related recall or something like that,

Lekker price drop if you've not upgraded your MZD Connect.

I need to still do this.

I also need to replace my LCD screen as it has the "phantom touch" issue where it randomly sends touch events and does unexpected things like phoning people from my call history (had that happen once).

I have the replacement screen it's just a mission to change.

is this for wired AA & ACP only?

I just purchased the kit from TAL for R2,200.00.It comes with an installation voucher which the dealer claims back
Kit is installed in my Mazda CX3 and works like a dream.
It takes the dealership about three hours to install
