Wait, I've got an idea! How about I phone Beeld and tell them, anonymously of course, that I am a credible source and that I saw Thabo Mbeki beating his wife.

Then, they run the story and we all wait for his response! What do you think? Cos thats about the same level of evidence they've got for this story.
 
Frankly I am bit disappointed there is seemingly no wall. A R90m wall would surely be a sight to behold.

Its just for paper sales I think.

yes, a pity the watchdog has no teeth and is on a very short leash. :mad: Yes, their spending, but quality of the spending is another matter altogether.

Using an apartheid-era law to restrict information about an alleged R90m fence around President Thabo Mbeki's official residence was "concerning," the SA National Editors Forum (Sanef) has said.

Sanef reacted on Wednesday to a report in The Citizen newspaper in which department of public works spokesperson Thami Mchunu said the Bryntirion government estate in Pretoria was a national key point.

Sanef said that the National Key Points Act was an apartheid-era law that had no place in a democratic South Africa and had asked government for its removal from the statute book, said Raymond Louw, chairman of the Sanef media freedom committee.

"It is outrageous that a government department should now invoke the act to prevent information from being disseminated to the public."

"Sanef's concern is that here, as in Zimbabwe, the government is resorting to apartheid government censorship to prevent the public from knowing what's going on."

Opposition parties have demanded explanations for the apparent plans to erect an R90m security wall around the complex.

A while ago President Mbeki found out there were still a few apartheid laws in place and he was furious and it was changed. :rolleyes: Now they are even starting to use apartheid laws for their own advantage
 
What's R90 million? That's not even a patch on the R12 billion Telkom made last year. And government owns +/- 30% of Telkom. So we helped pay for that wall just by using the internet... In fact, I'm helping them pay as I type this.
