McBride recommended as Ipid boss

His criminal record stands and from a moral/ethical point of view, it would not be advisable to appoint someone like that to a position like this.

If he has a criminal record, then I'm pretty sure he can't be IPID head...

He doesn't have a criminal record. I think Alb is referring to his restaurant bombing in 1986 for which he was given amnesty at the TRC.

Which made the TRC a joke and shows what a joke of a country SA is till this day.

Well it was Truth and Reconciliation, and people on both sides of the fight were forgiven if they were believed to have told the truth. Some were allowed to not even have to appear at the TRC like top leaders on both sides.

He was acquitted on being a drunkard, lying about medical certificates and getting his lowlife buddies to cover for him. He was never acquitted of he cowardly murder of women. He bleated about it but the courts held that he is still a murderer. He was never charged on the gun running. That was quickly forgotten about.

This is the McBride that should have been shot in the face. Not the woman in the US.

You cannot talk about morals and ethics when it comes to SAPS. They have none. It is rotten from the top to the bottom.

The TRC did not remove his criminal record.

Mandela still had a criminal record.

We are dealing with an anc government here, morals & should not does not come into play.

I am not discussing their morals, I am referring to what should not be allowed to happen in terms of OUR morals as citizens.

I stand corrected about his criminal record. I do, however, think that, from a credibility point of view, he should not be considered for the position.

All I get on the net is some bill proposed by the DA in '07/08 to expunge the criminal records of those convicted by the apartheid government for crimes committed then. I guess they simply just disregard convictions under apartheid.

They are trying to say that he served his time and deserves another chance. Well, he didn't serve his time, he was let out as part of an amnesty.

The amount of stupid in this appointment is beyond comment or words. I give up!!!!

He was acquitted on appeal.
This reminds me of the Afrikaans joke (forgive the intentional spelling mistakes)
"Hy's ni appeal nie, hy's n P..s!"

It is beyond any logic that he could even be put forward as a candidate for the post.
