Big change for McDonald's orders in South Africa

McDonald's South Africa has started rolling out the ability to place online orders for pickup on its mobile app — at the same prices as in-store or drive-through orders.

The change could significantly impact the attractiveness of using collection options from on-demand online ordering platforms like Uber Eats and Mr D.

Who the living fsck uses Uber eats or Mr d to place collection orders with take away places???

Ok, you're going to have to expand on that for me, because I don't see a cheapskate paying the MrD/Uber Eats premium just to collect their order from a takeaway place.
Some people have very funny ideas. I have been to a McDonalds where I've seen that kind of order being completed.
I usually go to the McD for toy collections and sometimes a milkshake, their food doesn't do it for me.

I'm still not seeing the link between using UberEats/MrD for collection orders and cheapskates.

Collection order, at McDonalds... Isn't that just the drive through?!

Probably faster, have you seen the drive through at McDonald's sometimes people must be waiting at least 30 minutes in the queue. So in store collection.

When you're in an area for a short period of time and they have a killer deal. Uber Eats sometimes has those never came across any on Mr D.

Yeah, those I get... but they're the exception not the norm for a platform like UberEats/MrD and they're very likely loss-leaders meant to drive additional business through the platform and takeaway.

Guess this man is getting his way in making McImmigrants feel unwelcome even in South Africa. Most of the Uber Eats / MrD drivers I've met are immigrants, the remaining are retired folk eking out a living.

Yeah yeah, great technology, now just fix the food itself.. Start by taking the 19 other chemicals out of the chips.. And so on.

Sometimes when there are coupons or vouchers, ordering through these apps is cheaper than direct from the store. And on occasion, when needing to pick up something on the way home from somewhere - order on the way home, pick up food from store, no need to wait until you get home and then wait longer for food.

The vouchers element I completely get.. but has everyone somehow forgotten to just phone a takeaway and place the order directly with them?
