In the rural areas people are building more and more shacks/mud huts. So persentage wise 20 years ago there were less shacks for the lightning to hit. It does not take a rocket seintists to figure that out. Rural people must be made aware of the use of lightning conductors.

I'm sure they will be. Following a multi-million-Rand probe, a multi-million-Rand campaign and a multi-million-Rand website... all several orders of magnitude more expensive than just installing the rods in high-risk areas would have been.

okay, so this is how the true story goes...
mec's brother is involved in swc stadium construction and has a whole bunch of steel poles, steel plate, nuts and concrete left over.
he sees a whole bunch of lightning conductors while driving past a summercon complex in joburg and reckons it's a good way to fob his leftover materials off.
gives his sister a call and the rest is history...
