Mechanical Keyboards

Don't know how Blues could be considered too resistant. Perhaps the keycaps on the BW? Could type for days on Blues without strain.

Further into perspective. Modified scissor switch rubber membrane switches have 65g force a la Logitech and flat laptop keys have an depression force of 65g.

Forgot what straight rubber membrane is, perhaps 50-55g? Must find out.

So to say Blues at 50g are too heavy is quite something. Maybe a chick, weak hands or wrists? :p

I went from a Logitech g11 to a CM Storm Quickfire black and it did take some getting used to. There is a strange feeling when you hit a key, its like it pushes back on you.

Would the browns be better?

Got used to it know and will never use another non mech keyboard again. Love the sound it makes when you type

Depends. Blacks are linear with no tactile bump. Browns have the tactile bump. So it's a different type of switch, really.

Blacks, Reds = Linear
Blues, Browns = Tactile bump

If possible, do what I did. Try out CM Storm Black and Blue...

If you like the linear feeling of Blacks, and want something lighter, then your next best bet is probably Reds...

I think reds will be the best, tried a BW with blues and did not enjoy the "bump"

Wonder if the trigger will have reds?

what you guys think of swapping key caps. I see on some forums the guys go crazy

The white key caps look so good on the grey base though:D

Yep the Trigger does have Reds. Hopefully we get it in. I already spoke to an importer and they said they've heard little.

I would swap key caps, just CBA now. :p

Unrelated to keyboards: does anyone else here find the word "mental" hard to type at any decent speed? It alternates left/right hands on every letter and I just realized that my brain has a crossed wire somewhere. Typing mental is like trying to spin my leg counter clockwise and my arm clockwise. Ridiculous.

That has to be the most random post I've ever made.

EDIT: I'm really retarded, it isn't even every letter. This is not a good sign :wtf:

Mental? It's easy to type :p
Mental
mental
mental
mental
mental.... :p

So who knows a shop who stocks:

1. Razer Black Widow
2. Corsair K90
3. Any other mechanical for comparison.

My search ran dry - we so backwards here you can't go anywhere to test drive these things

Need a Keyboard Store ala I-Store for the 0.001% who care about their keyboards :)

Doubt you'll find any to test. Best bet is the BW with cutout above arrow keys.

I now see why people who buy a mechanical keyboard end up buying more... and more... and more... I just want to feel how everything feels dammit!

I see CM have released the Pro version of the quickfire before the Trigger

Link

Must say I am not a fan of the looks, still a little too much branding but not great looking and the backlighting is not great

very good price for that G7. The trigger does look good but I am more than happy with my Quickfire. Slowly getting used to the small design

I recently got the CM Trigger (Cherry Blues) and was expecting it improve my typing experience. The complete opposite has happened. It now takes me almost twice as long to create and edit documents, I find it so fiddly.

Has anyone else moved across from a normal cheapo keyboard to one of these, and found themselves wanting to go back?

Am considering selling the Trigger now.
