Oh, the main file is only 1.5GB and after you apply the 2MB hot fix, the game works even better.

Im confused, I thought a whole new mechwarrior was being developed, not just a online mod

This is not it. The new game is just called Mechwarrior and is, after the recent fashion, a 'reboot' of the franchise.
