Have 2 second and 1 third generation Chromecasts.

And now a Mi Box S from Mia Africa due to the R599 price tag on Black Friday.

The DstVNow app never worked flawlessly on the Chromecasts, that left hand corner blue circle came up a lot, and then you have to reload the channel - this only happens on DstvNow, and nowhere else.

Running DstVNow and Showmax add-ons on Kodi for the Mi Box S, due to device registration and stream restrictions - I still want to use the Chromecasts with 2 phones, and only have access to two registrations on DstvNow, my brother having the other two, and parents using the decoder. What I can say of the Kodi DstvNow add-on - it works great! No issues. Showmax as well, no problem.

I couldn't cast DstvNow to the Mi Box S, without the app on the box, it only went to the DstVNow logo, and then channels only tried play, without succeeding. Different story for Showmax, it casts without the app on the box.

Is this still worth getting now in mid 2022 or are there better options available?
 
I'm considering getting the mecool km2 plus.

I was looking for a box with av1 codec and optical out, and this box has both. It is a bit more expensive than the Nova, but the Nova does not have an optical out.
