That's an excellent price! The spec seems to be the same as my Media Box Maverick. These boxes are significantly faster than the older generation LIT and Xiaomi boxes.

For example, many people with the older boxes are complaining about the slow response with the new version DStv shop. The response time with the Media Box is as smooth as it should be. No glitches or waiting for a response.

Looks good for the price. Would have been better with Gigabit ethernet, but I suppose that would have increased the price.

Better than a Mi Box S?
Has double the RAM, so yeah.

Also has an HDMI 2.1 port. Which means it should do 4k120 and 8k60. Not sure why it's only spec'd for 4k60, unless it's one of those fake ports with limited functionality...

Not double RAM... just running DDR4 instead of DDR3. Both have 2GB.

SoC is specced to 4k60

Probably doesn't have to power to do higher

The Amlogic S905X2 does not support the AV1 codec, for that you will need the Amlogic S905X3 / S905X4.
Important if you don't want to purchase another android box in a year or two. Netflix is starting to push it to supported devices already.

Google's own Chromecast with Google TV device doesn't support AV1 either.

The S905X3 doesn't either - it's just theS905X4 (or S905Y4)

It has the a variant of S905X3 - so yea, it doesn't either. There'll be AV1 decoding the next version, I'm sure .

I'm not sure why they decided to launch the latest Chromecast with that SoC knowing that AV1 will be quite critical going forward - but I suspect it has something to do with the chip shortage
